Maybe instead of polygraphing 5,000 people in TSU and elsewhere in the application process (awaiting TO's, in backgrounds etc.) they'll just poly the 500 or so they plan on hiring in FY2011.

In some cases the Border Patrol has been polygraphing people between "the call" and their EOD.

    Examples:
    http://forums.delphiforums.com/borde...es?msg=48214.1
    http://forums.delphiforums.com/borde...es?msg=48015.4

That stinks for the people that have passed their PFT2, put in their two-weeks notice and then had their offer rescinded.

No, CBP doesn't recognize other clearances, even ones within DHS for new hires. Messed up, but just the way it is. They are trying to move to this new "DHS One" system where all DHS clearances will be universally recognized within the department. The time frame for this is up in the air.

Don't count on it. I was the first to say it here that they were going to start to polygraph all new hires when no one believed me. It isn't that big of a task as you would think. I would expect it for everyone if I were you.

You know...I still buy into the idea that virtually all of you currently in TSU will be hired...assuming you wait around for it.
It may take another year...or two...or three, but eventually they'll have to hire to replace attrition...if nothing else. Considering that there's over 20,000 CBPOs and attrition is between 4-5% that's 800 people leaving per year...minimum.

          • Wow 800 at minimum...and they hired how many this Fiscal Year? lol. Not poking fun at your logic just saying that that is rediculous that they aren't filling these vacancies. At my port, we have lost 20 or so and we have picked up 2 CBPOs. Makes no sense.

              • To all applicants, hang in there. Hiring all over the fed is at a crawl. Some positions are taking 2 to 3 years from app to EOD. When it's your time, the call will come. Good luck to all.

Technically they have to accept any SSBI from any part of the government that was completed using the LE add ons. Reciprocity is written into the law. In actual use, it often will take longer obtain the completed BI (figure 4-5 months) and re-investigate the problem areas (figure 1-2 months), than it does to complete a new BI, so the policy has been to just complete a new one. This goes for all branches of the government.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.

                  • For all you trying to EOD in Maine..

Called TSU yesterday to ask them about any hiring plans for Maine in the near future, the girl told me there aren't any for the entire state. She said mabye that will change in October when the new fiscal budget gets passed and to check back then.

                    • The past couple of years at this time I've had to do my Physical Agility Test and Medical while waiting in TSU. This year, no nothing?

                      Sandwichman,

What's that lady's number. I wanna tell her to sign me up to work June, July, August and September. The rest of the year I'll work in South Florida.

As far as I know this not true. Out of curiosity please site the section of law you are referring to that states all clearances have to be acknowledged by all agencies. The people I have worked with in CBP that grant the security clearances have stated that they are not obligated to honor any outside agency clearance.

They were CBPO(E)s (Enforcement Officers) from the Criminal Enforcement Unit...their main focus is on the investigation of criminal activity at the POE.

                          • Has anyone got any info on a recent House Bill proposing the separation of CBP into distinct Customs and Immigration factions? I have heard rumblings about this for the last couple of years and talk of this just resurfaced today through the rumor mill here at the port.

I have heard nothing along those lines nor would I hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Part of the reason of the upgrades was because of the add complexity of having to be proficient in both functions.

I heard that for a while DHS was pushing hard to have ICE renamed "Investigations and Criminal Enforcement" because they are the primary enforcement agency of DHS. But FBI put up a big stink about it. So as a compromise ICE's Office of Investigations is now called "Homeland Security Investigations". They also renamed Detention and Removal Operations to "Enforcement Removal Operations."

Not exactly related, but I figured you guys might be interested.
