    • Depending on how long ago your BI passed of course. If it hasn't been recent, they may redo the BI or run an update on it. You never know what CBP IA will do when it comes to BI's.

      • Awesome! I didn't know any of it would transfer. I just resubmitted my old app with a test score of 89% Part of me wants to retake it and try to get better, the rest never wants to hear the words 'artificial language' again!! Anyone have any idea how many of those BPA and CBPO positions are for each state?

do any current cbpo's know the status on any possible changes from 8's to 10's or another type of schedule? Also curious as to what types of restrictions CBP places on off duty employment.
The AWS are negotiated with the Union and Managment. Some ports have gone to them, but other's think that it will cause them to lose OT so they don't go for it. Outside employment must be approved by managment, but if you are at a busy port you won't have time for a second job. I could never fit one in working a 16 hour day most every days.
Life is what happens while you are waiting for something better to come along.

Has anyone who "failed"the polygraph test actually been removed fro TSU yet? I haven't!

According to the SA (DEA) who administered my test it would take a few weeks for it to show up. I passed my test though... but he did tell me that CASS is not reliable and that I should contact HR directly.

                • got a phone call tonight from a different BI. We're going to meet up tomorrow and this would be my 2nd BI. Does anyone know what the 2nd BI consist of? Is he going to visit all the references, jobs, neighbors again? I hope this is going somewhere...

Well my new countdown since I "failed" my polygraph is a little over 6 weeks! And when I called a few days ago the lady on the line told me that everything was "still good" for me. That I just had to wait for a spot to open up! HA!

                      • I just got an email from a friend who works in a Northern Port . He claims that they will be hiring 150 officers at his port in 2011.
They are still losing people as fast as they can get out.
I will try to get more details for you.
Keep in mind ou will do no leo work there.
You will make decent $$$$ . Work sch. leaves a lot to be desired .
You will work non stop lane to counter to lane to counter during your 8 hours. Overtime has been there.
And he tells me for those who desire to move up the Customer Service Career Route Supervisors are getting GS 13 amazing.
YOU owe the pay to the UNION so make sure you join . As if it was up to Mgt you would still be 9s .

                        • I KNOW I TAKE A LOT OF HEAT here for telling the truth but I got ahold of this little tid bit to prove what I say .
This from NTEU recent contract hearing 2010.

"Management's chief spokesperson also argued repeatedly that the practices of the Customs Service were irrelevant because it did not enforce laws or face danger. "

At still other points, members of the management team gave very suspicious testimony to the arbitrator. For example, a Buffalo port director testified that he had never asked any CBPO to "flush the lines" or "mitigate." He told the arbitrator that would be illegal and a violation of policy, leaving everyone with the impression that if they are ordered to do so they should immediately report the incident to IA. An El Paso manager seconded his testimony. However, as every CBPO knows, managers regularly order them to do so and each member of our team testified about how it is done in their locations.

MY point is understand what this job is . THE MANAGMENT understands it the newbies here do not . And the BSRERS
You work the line or counter . True on the southwest border you escort someone into a room until ICE ORthe locals arrive but it is almost the same as TSA finding something in luggage .

                          • I highly doubt any port let alone a NB port would be hiring 150 new officers.

                            • Washington/- All other Locations are expecting 0 new hires for FY 2011. This is coming from a family member who works there.

                              • The only people who know what ports are hiring and the amounts are some employees at the Field Offices and HQ. Claims like those are not reliable from officers or even mangement at the individual POE's or Port Offices.
