  • Frankly, Escape/Dajob/HTJ could have been an asset to this thread. There is nothing wrong with highlighting the downside of the job. However, his/her method of relaying the information to us was, uh, questionable...

    • Well everyone, I thought I would chime in, since I haven't posted in a while. For those of you that remember, I got the "call" a few weeks ago. Well turns out that everything got postponed pending a medical review!!!!! I went to do the final physical, and the doctor asked me about a surgery I had on a joint. I didn't have any previous paperwork, since I had already taken a physical, and CBP said I was good to go. Well turns out that the doctor put on his review, that I stated I had pain in the joint, which is a complete lie!! They sent me a letter and have asked me to follow up with a specialist. After doing all that, they will make their decision. I have since done the follow up, and the specialist said I am good to go (no surprise there) and am waiting again. I hope I get the "call" again soon!

        • A couple weeks ago I got that FCRA form, and my CASS updated to having no check marks next to my Pre-Employment forms and Background Investigaiton. Going by quite a few other posts in this thread, that was normal.

I sent the form in right away and have since seen CASS give me a check mark next to the PE Forms. BI still says its in the office.

I've been in TSU since 5/12/09

I have the exact same issue. I am giving it another 2 weeks before I start worrying about it.

            • Got a call today from the ATF to schedule my panel interview and Spanish test.

Has anyone ever had to take a Language proficiency test over the phone? If so what's it like? PM me if you prefer.

                          Yeah.

Typically, almost any job with a government, be it local/state/federal, is considered a civil service job. Now, if you're looking for a specific definition to fit a particular set of circumstances, then you're going to have to come forth with more relevant background information.

                            • Yuma man sentenced after pleading out to trying to run down CBP officer
By SILVIO J. PANTA, Staff Writer

                              Wednesday, March 31, 2010 9:08 AM PDT

A Yuma man was sentenced to serve more than three years in federal prison following his guilty plea in San Diego federal court for assault on a federal officer at the Andrade Port of Entry last year, a press statement says.

Ricardo Zavala, 32, would also have to serve three years of supervised release as part of his sentence, the press statement read.

Zavala pleaded guilty Dec. 12, before Magistrate Judge Ruben B. Brooks for driving a silver Honda Odyssey minivan he used to run down a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer on May 18.

In his guilty plea, Zavala admitted that when he tried to flee the checkpoint that day he accelerated out of the secondary inspection area and drove the minivan in the direction of the CBP officer and a drug-sniffing dog.

Zavala never struck the officer or the dog as they both were able to avoid getting hit by less than a foot, the statement read.

Zavala traveled with an unidentified woman and three children that day but it was not made clear why he sped away from the location.

An interesting bit about 'the job', and likely another good example where Officer fitness and awareness probably made this a lot less ugly than it could have been.
