  • Right now on Speed channel, Dangerous Drives, they're showing Border Patrol
agents on all kinds of vehicles along Yuma, Nogalas, AZ and SW border.

It was on earlier today and they're showing the repeat between 12:00am and 1:00am EST (aka, right now if anyone is up reading the posts).

Very interesting stuff. Sandrails, ATVs, tunnel patrols, etc, etc.

I should have proof read what I had wrote! Yeah, I meant to say that I used Delivery Confirmation as opposed to Certified Mail. But, like CajunChick said, both will show that it was received so if MHC tries to say they never got it... I can have the Delivery Confirmation code to show as proof and hopefully be ok. Sorry for the mix-up!!

            Hehehe.

My knee is killing me. I stopped running daily for about 2 months (with only a day here and there) joined a gym a the end of November and last week my knee started hurting. It doesn't hurt when I walk, but I can only run for about 2 minutes without feeling like I should stop fast.

            Any advice?

See a doctor, to find out exactly what is going on. Change your method of cardio until you heal up. None are as good as running, but they stress the body differently, so if it is an over training issue your body should be able to heal up while not losing too much conditioning. I've had to do this many times as a result of plantar fasciatis (SP??), shin splints, and sprained ankles.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.

Is it the inner or outer knee? Could be a ton of different things, but since you're able to walk pain-free leads me to think that it's not major.

Try to so some excercises that will strengthen the areas around the knee like leg presses and leg curls. Use ice and ibuprofen to help with imflammation.

If it persists, go see a doctor while you still have time. I just finished physical therapy for a severely sprained MCL and ankle that I injured in July. Keep us posted.

Remember to lay off impact cardio for awhile and try the eliptical or anything that dosen't involve the knee taking a pounding. You don't want your cardio to be too bad when you really need it to be there.

Inner left knee on the left side. It hurts to walk this morning until it loosens up. It happened last week on the treadmill, got better, so I stated running on monday and last night. Gah. I never had a problem on the track. Maybe it's because my body is used to running in circles and my left leg takes the brunt of that around the track? Watch them give me the call this week after I hurt my leg.

Is this from a previous injury, or is the pain just from "running"? If it's not from a previous injury, I would guess it's tendinitis and you need to lay off the running for awhile.

Keep up with your cardio and make sure you're taking anti-imflammatories and using heat and ice when needed.

My friend's husband is an orthopedic surgeon so I just asked her to call him for you. He says it could be a number of things but you do want to go see a doctor. A torn meniscus may be the problem and if it tears a little its easily fixed with surgery but if you tear it more, big problems. He said the best way to tell is for you to sit back on your knees. If it hurts while doing that, it could very well be the problem. He said you might have twisted it a bit and to not do any type of impact cardio. Stick to stationary bike for 4 weeks. With that being said, I would make a doctor appointment to make sure because you dont want to risk being out of commision longer than need be. I hope this info helps and keep us posted!!

                      • Long time reader/watcher, first time posting here...

I also have mild pain on the inside of my left knee. The more I bend the knee during exercise, the more it hurts, but it's never been very severe. I used to play a lot of racquetball and do spinning classes - sometimes in the same day - so I think it's over-use. There was never any swelling.

The point is, I've had this issue for two years and haven't been able to figure it out. I went to a Dr. over a year ago who sent me for physical therapy. They were unable to determine exactly what the problem is, but said it's acts like (slightly) torn meniscus. I can run and bike (lower impact), but it's sore the next day - especially with long distances (I do triathlons). Basketball and racquetball (higher impact) are essentially not possible.

I've enjoyed reading this forum/thread. If anyone is interested, I'm waiting for an Agriculture Specialist position in Michigan. As an AgSpec, I don't have to pass a physical test, although I would gladly do so if required.

EDIT: Now two votes for torn meniscus (cajunchik and I were typing at the same time I will probably need the surgery at some point.

                        • I was going to wait to hear if his injury was from just running or some type of twisted movement or impact to the knee.

I went 2 months thinking i had a torn meniscus, at least that's what my family doctor told me, but he was wrong. I was ready to have orthoscopic surgery to get rid of the pain. I knew the sooner I made a decision, the sooner it could heal, but I didn't want to have the mandatory 90 day post-op evaluation taking me out of TSU, like I had last year with eye surgery! I eventually went to see a specialist and had a MRI and it showed a damaged MCL. I had the same problem where I could not lean back on my knees, nor could I run without pain.

X-rays won't show much, but that's what most doctors want to have done first. I think it's a quick way to get a little bit more insurance $.

                            • Ok, this sounds kinda crazy but I was just curious if they will re-evaluate your eligiblity for a certain GS grade again before you EOD?

The reason I ask is: what if I EOD for another position at a higher GS level and then get the call for CBP, would I be grandfathered in under the higher GS level? I know I have seen variations of this on the forum before but I was just curious considering there is a good probabilty of this occuring...

For most of the injuries you'll get to your knees/ankles from running x-rays don't show too much. With that said, I did have torn cartilage in my ankle show on an x-ray, but still needed to have an MRI to get it fixed. Mostly you'll need an MRI to show the good stuff. Many family doctors, unfortunately, are not that well versed in sports injuries, so you might be better off going to a specialist or a doctor who is active in sports.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
