GS-12 most likely will not start until at least the end of March 2010.

            • Today,
I email MHC regarding my TSU date because my C.A.S.S. doesn't show my TSU date anymore. The reply I recieved back was about, MHC not reschueduling my fitness test till they have a funded position. So, Im wondering how long this is going to take till MHC reschedules my fitness test. All my list is checked green except, now Im not in TSU this is so sad.

This is a nightmare. Every month the news gets worse. The reality is being in TSU doesn’t mean a thing. Most of us will not be hired anytime in the near future. Letting people expire out of TSU and not re-testing is a big deal, it's not a good sign.

Two thoughts I had on the way to work this morning:

                          1. TSU was previously used as the "seniority" marker in the hiring process, meaning that usually TSU 1/27/09 got the call before TSU 4/10/09. Now that they are letting people expire out of TSU until such time that a funded position is available, what will be used to organize applicants in the process?

                          2. I also had this picture in my head of some Congressional Committee coming down on DHS/CBP for having so many applicants in holding. Their brilliant solution to the problem was to let the Fit Test expire, thereby removing said applicant from the ready pool, and then when they are ready, administer retest and boom problem solved. No appearance of long applicant line because technically the applicants are not fully ready until the test has been administered.

I believe that most of us will never be hired. They have simply bitten off more than they can chew and are going to let attrition start picking us off. January will be the new fiscal year October situation. We've got years to go in this process, even in TSU.

We've just got to roll with the punches and learn to adjust to less than stellar situations.
