FYI- I called TSU today to inquire about my application being pulled from TSU. And I also found out fron the lady that there probably wont be any hiring until after the holidays.

"Hiring" implies different things to different people. Hiring could mean the issuance of a new announcement to some, it could mean finally getting the heck out of TSU and receiving an EOD date to some, or to some it could mean having all of the pre-employment hoops navigated successfully and being sent to TSU.

In the eyes of the MHC, "hiring" means bodies being pushed out of TSU and getting an EOD date.

Ok; Here is the deal....CPB will only start one more class this year, and those people are already hired and in their pre academy training, which is set at 4 weeks because it is a set program. The people who will be attending FLETC in the month of Jan. will start next week and then two weeks after that, and have already recieved "the call".

As I have told you guys, the priority is for the Southwest Border. The last graduating class only had one guy not going to the southwest border, so if you are waiting for any other location to open please do not put off any plans thinking you will start FLETC in January. The vast majority of this board is not waiting for a SW border location, and the few that are, are in applicant heavy areas.

We never stopped hiring, it slowed down, but we have got to keep some hiring to keep the instructors with work.

? for Biggdawgdaddy, as many on this forum have already pointed out Texas Eastern Locations has had applicants in TSU for 12 mos and longer. i have currently been in TSU 10 1/2 mos and according to your last post at least several more to look forward to. Why is it that Texas Eastern locations, that consist of Lubbuck, Midland, Odessa, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio , Corpus Christi, Mcallen ,and several others that i am prob missing have had no hires in the last year according to MHC but have some of the largest Ports and multiple locations for this geo preference but nada. ? when applicants apply for places like LAX and MIA is it just that one geographic location or does it also consist of many possible duty locations in that area.

Some disheartening news to those of us going into the government employment sector: No locality increase for FY2010 (at least there is a 2% salary increase for civilian employees -(this is also lower than the standard 2.9%)). Ironic considering Congress is saying they want to raise locality pay by up to 43.75% for FY2011.

went for a jog last night, did 2 miles in 18 minutes 2 seconds with some distractions (some Chihuahua puppy ran up to me and my dog out of nowhere and wanted to play, then my dog stopped to do her business a few times). Real time would probably have been 17 min and change.

Seriously that doesn't bother me I just want to get in! I work in the private sector and they have stopped giving ANY raises or bonuses whatsoever until further notice.

True, but I've resolved myself that I will likely be with CIS or ICE before CBP even remembers that I still exist. And equally true that I would LOVE to be in the government sector already, but still I'm sure that the government employees aren't too thrilled that they got the shaft in light of the very liberal spending of our tax dollars these days.

The Field Offices that you applied for does not include Southern border locations. Houston field office does not include Pharr, San Antonio, or Corpus, they are in Laredo Field Office. Hiring now is done by Field office, if you put in for east Texas, that is all you will be considered for. East Texas is the Houston Field Office and is several Sea Ports and airports, but no land borders. You can be considered for any location in the field office if that is how the announcement read.

I wish they had left the ability to be considered for more than one location, or nation wide (that was how it used to be). I know that when some field offices have openings at smaller ports (less than 100 officers) they want to get people who rotate out of pre-clearance, CSI or the Academey. Or they put it out for unpaid moves usually taken by guys on the Southwest Border. That just results in more openings on the Southwest Border.

The last graduating class was Laredo, El Paso, and various AZ ports. Do not expect it to change any time soon.

I had forgotten that I had even applied for the job when I was called. But that was before they posted the whole thing on the web to frustrate you.
