  • I entered TSU on 5/12/09 for LAX/LB.

I have half a mind to apply to TSA tonight until "the call" comes.

    • Let's have some real pre-academy standards. This is for a law enforcement department near me. They knock out 70% of the applicants with it.
      220 yard run- 42 seconds
      push-ups- 40/minute
      sit up- 40/minute
1.5 mile run in 13 minutes
A vertical jump..This knocks out the heavy set people right away.
300 yard swim...just acheive it without stoping or drowning, no time limit.

        +1

The CBP requirements, even if they get tougher are no where near most local PD's or other LEA's... Like the change or not, it's likely coming. Do yourselves all a favor and adapt to the new standards - both for your career and for yourselves because it will only make YOU more able to perform when/if it becomes necessary. Even at worst, no requirement will want people to be Rambo. I come to this forum a lot for opinions and advice, but this is getting out of hand people!

Yes same here. But as soon as I made up my mind, all the TSA announcements in MA were already gone.

                • The only way to fix TSA: Higher the standards, Higher the pay. Intresting, that seems to be exactly what CBP is doing. Instead of complaining, we should be grateful this agency is trying to get better. I work for one that's not(TSA) and trust me, you don't want it the other way around.

It is a place you want to be, but not for so long. After you have passed all requirements and are waiting for an Entrance of Duty (EOD) to your Port of Entry (POE) you are in The Scheduling or Selection Unit (TSU).

I wonder if there is a tremendous amount of waiting after we get hired. I remember thinking "if only I get into TSU I can relax". It is not relaxing.

I noticed you tested for FBI police. What is FBI police? They have a separate police division?
