Yeah I understand I almost gave up myself on NYC but I work for TSA so I'm in a stable job somewhat. Well hopefully you'll get that transfer in a few yrs.

      • I was pulled out of TSU to retake fitness and medical. Just checked Cass and everything shows that its been completed. Does this mean I will be put back in TSU soon??

Also does anyone know if its possible to change your GEO loction after you've chosen one. I read on website that you couldn't but is there someway around that??

The way i understand it is that the only way you can is to apply for another geo during a vacancy announcement. Your t.o. and everything after it are based on the locale you picked to begin with. If they didnt do it that way, people would pick a major needs area for a quick t.o., complete everything, get to TSU and then change to the locale they really wanted.

            • I received a email from the TSU that said:

If anyone received the same mail?

I hate to tell you but yes pay is an important factor in deciding a career. Also, you say, "when someone who really wants the job for the right reasons", what are the right reasons??? The ones that you deem appropriate? I have many reasons for wanting to be a cbpo other than pay, but thanks for already reading my mind and deciding I should not waste space.
QUOTE=kearney3;1966063]FYI I am a ma'am and This was not directed at anyone in particular nor was it intended to offend anyone. I am sure that if you intend to become a CBPO you will come across much more offensive people than myself. Any who... I understand that everyone has different reasons for wanting to go into law enforcement but I know I could speak for many other LEOs when I say I wouldnt want to have to depend on the guy in the field for back up that chose the job because they feared the possibility of danger and because they liked the color of the uniform. As far as the pay goes, I was just giving my info as I am currently experiencing it since I work for Border Patrol. When I was at the academy, so many people quit before we even got started because they said it was the wrong career choice ie signing up for a job not knowing what it involved. Good for them it is not like the military where you sign a contract! And so to answer your question this was not paticularly directed at you.[/QUOTE]

There is nobody gunning for PA's that would hesitate to gun for a CBPO.

Unless the discussion involves vehicle/boating accidents, you'll have nearly the same risks from the same criminals in either a blue or a green uniform.
Thank You! Like I was saying, I think a lot of people dont have all of the facts when applying for these positions. I think that they possibly dont know that CBPO's dont just work at airports and ship yards, the work at land border entrys where they come into contact with illegals and drugs and other dangerous people too! lol

Thanks Merlin and TXCBP, I should be ok in a couple of weeks and nothing was seriously injured (at least not that I know of) lol...

                        • Just for fun I called the number for TSU; the lady I spoke with was pretty nice. She said that there's about 1500 people in the TSU pipeline and right now they are only filling needs on a individual basis (i.e. someone quits, is promoted, etc...). She said that she wasn't sure what would happen once the Federal budget comes in and said maybe they'll know more then.

                          • I like how in that email they sent they didnt bother to hide everyones personal emails.

That email from MHC is their way of saying "Leave us alone already we will call you when we call you" -I can imagine they are getting call after call after call.

Its obvious that if you have a gun there is always some sort of risk but, in my opinion, compared to BPA there is less risk. In regards to OT, it makes no difference whether you put in more or less hours, in the end it always pays off. Please don't take me wrong on this but my facts are straight just wanted to know what was on other peoples mind if that doesn't bother you.

Anyway, EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion and at least you had the chance to let everyone know what you felt, and thought Take care buddy and have a good one.
Well I am glad You are all about fun and games and LOL! I am not sure you will feel the same when and if you make it through the academy. Please forgive me for not having your sense of humor but maybe you will understand when you go to the academy and your classmate/ possible partner (the person your life may one day depend on) stops shooting at the range due to the fact that their finger is TIRED! Or when you have been waiting forever to get the call and someone ahead of you gets called and cant even run the mile and a half in the required 16min or less when I ran it in less time with a fractured leg. And yes I am a female. So PLease forgive me of my frustrations. Oh but then maybe you wont understand cuz according to you CBPO is a "low risk" job. And I truely Hope that you will take the advice/ comments seriously for your own sake and note that I have no ill intentions and truely wish you and everyone else the best.
