Good afternoon to all, I've been following this forum for a few months and finally decided to join. Is having your personal vehicle a must while attending the academy?

I don't think it's a must, I suppose if you live in the Albany area you could take CDTA, but I wouldn't recommend thumbing a ride to Buffalo.

Local state police officers recomended car pooling. I'm from the NYC area, I was trying to figured out of getting a car would be a good investment. considering that the academy facilities aren't at our disposal throughout the weekend and my options would either be to take the trip back down to the city or stay at a local hotel every weekend.

Once I'm on the job of course, My consern is during the academy.

Carpooling is fine, but you should wait a few weeks and pick someone who's committed. You don't want your buddy to quit or flunk out, leaving you stranded.

No. Phone stays in car - you don't use it during the week.

Haven't been able to get a definitive answer but on our list of items to bring it says to bring spandex shorts. Are we talking some compression boxers to wear under our PT gear or actual spandex shorts for the ground tactics and wrestling portion?

I think a pair of compression shorts would do the trick for both. I think it's just so when your group pt'ing your partner does not have to look at your kibbles and bits.

How small of a bag is everyone bringing their items in? Seems like the items that would take up the most space are the business attire related ones.
