anyway, the standard advice i give to aspiring LEO's, is to NOT get a degree in CJ unless you are otherwise interested in pursuing a law degree or some other law profession. its a pretty useless degree ( i have one) and if i didn't get this job it would have been a COMPLETE waste of 3yrs. get a degree in a field you are interested in if you don't get into police work. just take a few CJ classes as electives. the ones that will help you IF you do get on the job/academy will be criminal law and constitutional law (perhaps others can add to that list) because you'll be working out of the NYS penal law. (if you're in a NY school anyway.).......good luck and keep your nose clean
