guy at the range gave me the site EDIT

    cheapest there is @ $21.

    • New Jersey State Police; toll roads, according to Pop.

NJSP requires 18 months of service prior to any Trooper being assigned to toll road duty; NJ Turnpike, Garden Start Parkway, or Atlantic City Expressway.

You can volunteer or in some cases be assigned, usually based on where you live.

Then you must spend a minimum of 18 months there when assigned.

Generally you cannot receive a specialist postion without toll road duty.

At the Medical the recruiters said this is the last class off of the 2004 list.

I really hope that enables an increase to the class size!!! That would be the best news of 2008!!

                • How do you guys like the .45 GAP? Is it pretty similar to shooting a .45 ACP? I was reading this months GLOCK magazine, and they did a piece on the NYSP and the new G37. Looks like a sweet gun.

I really hope you can qualify with another brand gun while your a trooper? Not a fan of the glock. I know their great if you throw them in water or sand, but just not very accurate in my opinion.

Thanks NYIllini, I thought it was just for fam. Good point you made about meeting others you will be attending with too .

                      • Academy invites...

So, it is said that the total class size will be approx. 104 to start. I can't understand why they would process so many people (160+)to fill only 104 spots. Maybe it had to do with the budget after invites were sent out. Hopefully they will add some more people to the class last minute for you guys waiting. Plus, there are always a good number who drop/fail out within the first two weeks. All hope is not lost yet for those of you waiting, so don't throw in the towel. Good luck to all of you.

NYSP members can correct me if I am wrong, but if NYSP is anything like my department you're required to qualify with and carry your issued weapon while on duty. No substitutions. In NYS, accredited agencies are extremely strict about policy such as that.

If you are going to carry an off-duty, traditionally it can be of your choosing but some deptartments mandate certain makes/models. DCJS requires qualification with your off-duty as well.

Yea i've not completely lost hope but I have no chance of getting in if none of that happens. I aged out prior to the new exam so unless there is a bunch of bell ringers, I'm finished

I think GLOCK is a great weapon all around. However Im not a big fan of the "New York trigger"

arls116, thanks for clearing that up, i know some departments have different rules about that issue, wasnt sure how NYSP works.

reils49, that is the one of the reasons why I m not a fan of the Glock because of that dam trigger!!! When i shoot the Glock i just find it different from shooting the Sig. I perfer a heavier gun.
