My buddy went to Niagara back in the early 90's (for a couple of weeks, he wasn't the ideal student). He keeps talking like he graduated with a PhD or something, the proud alumnus. When the casino first opened, we took a road trip up there. Soon as we get to the casino, he asks to borrow my car to go visit the campus. sheesh!

Anyway, I have a bet with him. If Niagara makes it to the NCAA tournament this year I have to buy, and wear a Niagara University sweatshirt. I've never actaully rooted against them until now.

What he's trying to say is that this is not a sign of healthy interaction with the other Troopers.

It doesn't actually happen very often anymore. But I know 4985's station, I used to work there. They still play a little rough there.

Actually, it would probably be a good idea to look for a career change if this happens to you.

Im going to be completely honest about it. I just didnt know if this was a big deal.
Amazingly, I have never recieved a speeding ticket in my life and know NYC tix aren't that bad yet, but I'm sure some other states have pretty hefty prices. A friend of mine got an almost $300 ticket for speeding in one of Jersey's small towns. He claims to only have been going approx. 15 over the limit, but either way I have heard in the past that the small towns in Jersey are famous for outrageously high tix and I'm sure their not the only state that does this.

Yep, honesty is your best policy when it comes to becoming a NYST. You haven't done anything that most of the guys already on the job didn't do before being hired. Aside from me and a few other people, I know very few that have never been pulled over for speeding at one time or another. With today's "Rush lifestyle", you have to do 10-15 0ver the limit just to keep up with traffic, so you haven't commited any major crime. I'm sure you will be fine.

              • So I took the exam today at the academy. The troopers were all friendly and professional. There were some questionable characters taking the exam, but not nearly as many as I had been expecting based on earlier reports. As for the exam, I feel excellent about the first part. In general, I thought it was slightly easier than the practice questions. No idea how I did on part two. I just answered honestly and hoped for the best. I guess I'll see in a few weeks. Good luck to everyone else.

                • I had so many tickets, I had to use the back page on the background packet. The only thing I had going for me is that most of my tickets were over 8 years ago. I also had a suspended license for 2 days for late payment that I didn't know about that my B.I. brought up to me. Anyway, if I didn't get DQ'ed, you won't have a problem.

                  • Scruffy

Before someone comes on and complains about how scruffy one big guy was at Yonkers today, THAT was me.

Got into Newark airport at 2:30AM last night, 3 hours late from St Louis, 3:30 head hits pillow at home, up at 6:15 for the 3 S's, and drive up to Yonkers.

I felt bad till I saw one girl at 5-2 and 250 minimum....

Okay, I didn't want to be the one to say it. But the the majority of the female testers whom I noticed were seriously overweight. I'm not saying these women aren't tough, but I can't see how they will pass the running test.

I guess prior to my test it was a good move on my part to lose 100 pounds, remove a few dozen piercings, tatoos and my purple hair dye. I also didn't put on my mascara, traded in my Goth clothing and cancelled my appearance on Jerry Springer. I wasn't sure if I should do it then, but now I'm really thankful I did.
Purple hair would match with the purple tie.. instant hire. Should have kept it...

I was the fat dude wearing wind pants with the left leg pulled up high, oversize t-shirt, and the baseball cap cocked sideways, flashing gang signs.
