  • Dads A Cop

I was just wondering if haveing a dad that is a cop and knowing alot of people who are police officers and sergents helps as refrences and getting hired?
All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

I think that depends. My dad was a cop for 30 years and when I was hired on a neighboring agency, he had friends there. But I still had to pass a polygraph, drug test, physical, etc. Does it help, probably in some ways.

When my dad retired, I waited a year and left the agency I was at and went to the one he worked for.

I've known a few guys who might or might not have been hired eventually get hired rather quickly due to parents being in LE. I imagine it depends a lot on his rep w/ the Chief.
