Someone going into hiring mode here?

I wonder if I could have lateralled into one of these positions from Customs, and if they will accept my training?
Though their numbers are many, as the grass upon the field, we will count them at the end of the day.

Anyone know the residency requirements? With the money they pay, the locations listed would be rough to live in if you had to live within the cities.

It's federal, so I don't believe there are any residency requirements.

I'm not sure about your pay scale reference but if I'm not mistaken they have the 3rd highest starting salary in this area behind USCP and SSUD

I looked it over very briefly and it seemed decent for a LEO job, but the cost of living in those areas is pretty high. After looking it over again, looks pretty decent. Anyone know what kind of special assignments are available??

I'm pretty sure they have heir own program at FLETC that is something like 17-24 weeks long. The basic Police program is only 10 weeks. A great thing about USPP, their training exceeds but also meets NPS standards so you can transfer and become a park ranger or NPS LE Specialist. After you get some time in the investigation division conducts criminal investigations in national parks nationwide.

I am trying to remember if they were the ones at FLETC that had to march and run everywhere together with someone carrying a guidon all the time. Or was that the DC police?

...If selected for this position, you must complete specialized law enforcement
training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick,
Georgia (for 24-week duration) beginning on or about April 30, 2006....

I spent 4 months at FLETC, and that was plenty long enough.

Not sure of the entire listing but they have any and everything as far as specialties go..I know they do run helicopter and boat patrols which alot of places don't. From what I have heard from friends in LE in this area(MD.),this is a great place to work.

I think you are correct about this....DC has their own academy in DC

They had a lateral academy a few years ago for Mixed basic police certified folks. They are one of only 2 agencies where they do not have to call the FBI for certain felonies on their property due to their having the same authority as the MPDC. Great agency (they used to have a hqs where I used to work).
                            I don't answer recruitment messages....
