If you want to be a cop in MA, you take any dept that will put you through the academy. Even if its not your top choice. It is much easier to move around once you are trained.

    Advice in Massachusetts (or NYC)

I am currently on a reserve list for a civil service town. The word is that the department is just waiting for someone to retire. I recently received a letter from a non civil service town to take there test, The first question I have is which type of department is better and/or is there a diffrence. I also took the NYPD test and have the option of pursuing that. Any advice would be much appreciated.
