  • Dancing on tenterhooks over psych eval...

I took the MMPI-2 and some other headshrinking test last Tuesday, and had the interview that afternoon. The psychologist said that as long as the tests came back OK, I'd be recommended. The appointment letter said the results would come back "in a few days", and the headshrinker said if I passed, I'd get a call, and if not, I'd get a letter. Well, someone else got their call the next day. Here I am, a week later, dreading going to the mailbox every day... Of course, I have all sorts of mental images of having blasted through the test too fast and maybe read some particular question wrong, and I'm now classified as a loony

Gawd, I just want to know! I wasn't worried at all until I knew this other person had their answer so quickly. Everyone pray for me, please!

It is pretty silly that they make you wait for a test that is graded on a scantron machine. It takes about 2 minutes to find out the results.
"Respect for religion must be reestablished. Public debt should be reduced. The arrogance of public officials must be curtailed. Assistance to foreign lands must be stopped or we shall bankrupt ourselves. The people should be forced to work and not depend on government for subsistence." - Cicero, 60 B.C.

That's what I thought! FWIW, though, I didn't notice any kind of scanner or whatnot in the doctors office. That particular office might have to send the form somewhere else to be scanned. Also, it's my understanding that the results of the test aren't pass / fail... there are a bunch of different "scales", and I think someone with 'special training" (ie. paid a lot of money to the creators of the test) has to 'interpret" and "evaluate" the results.

Personally, i think it's tea-leaf reading, like "truth verification". But I'm held captive by these particular tea leaves...
