  • LAPD Background

I am currently in the Background Investigation phase with LAPD, but I don't have a clue on who's doing the actual investigating. Is this normal for LAPD?

Yep, don't worry, they won't even tell personnel what's going on.

Your background is being done by a civilian employee who is most likely a retired cop. I'm told that LAPD background investigators live kind of a strange existance, working a lot out of their homes and using their personally owned vehicle as transport while doing backgrounds. (They get mileage.)

Well, it's been 3 weeks now and my references and jobs haven't been contacted. Is no news good news?

I also have a question about my background packets; I recently got a raise and will be getting another raise within a month or so. Should I notify the background investigator of the recent change now and then notifiy him/her again after the second raise or do I wait till the next raise kicks in and send in one modification to my packet?

Patience, patience, LAPD can take a year to get all the stuff together.
