The position is actually called Correctional Probation Officer (CPO). Yes, it is and armed position, and yes, most Community Colleges that offer LE academies conduct a CPO academy.

The position is overseen by the Florida Department of Corrections. You can check myflorida.com for job listings.

I have been on several sweeps with CPO's for carrer offenders and sexual offenders. Too many hats to wear for me though. Hope this helps.

I also am wondering about the same position in Texas. I don't have any previous law enforcement experience. Is this a good first step?

Can someone enlighten us on what the job entails day to day....please.

    Thanks

    Florida Parole Officer Question

Do you have to go to a community college to be a parole officer in Florida? Is it an armed position? I was wondering what kind of job it is in Florida. I am considering a move and any information would be appreciated.[/FONT]
