He explained they conduct a preliminary background allowing you to EOD before official adjudication and that is a common practice. So those getting actual job offers might be cleared just not officially adjudicated. Not that any of this matters while I’m in medical purgatory.
Did they expand on this at all? Like, can the preliminary background be conducted without the applicant even knowing (i.e., prior to the security interview)? Curious if people are getting EODs and FLETC dates before they expect it. My medical and drug screening are cleared, so I'm just waiting on my background to start.

Only expanded that I was cleared in April, met with BI 2nd of May. My understanding is they can and do clear you for EOD via a basic background review. Your final clearance is done later. I’m assuming if anything degragatory is found it could effect you in the academy. Final Adjudication takes a long time according to them. Sounds Simmilar to receiprocity agreements that other agencies do.

      Likely an interim clearance.

I called CHS this past Friday. They said my medical is still processing.

It's crazy how eveyone is different.

  • So, from what I've read so far, only a couple people on here have gotten "the call" at this point. Right?

At least ten more on Delphi forums but some of those already had a clearance.

  • Anyone have any movement this week ?

Hey BLOK when you called PSU did they say you were cleared? Guy on the phone with me wasn't much help but said it was ongoing. Wasn't sure if that was for full clearence or if my basic was done and I can EOD with that.

I didn’t get notified that I was “cleared” he said it was pending. He did say I was cleared to EOD. So as someone else stated most of us likely get an interim clearance.

Gotcha thanks. I'll prob call back and ask if I am cleared for EOD on that end.

I’m sure you’re clear to EOD they do that before meeting BI. The real question is why the hold up on drug screens and med reviews. I also heard calls go out when hiring board meets every two weeks. So maybe the end of next week a few more will be called. Pure speculation

  • Anyone have the PSU number?

    • If it makes anyone feel better... this is all the paperwork I had to gather for my follow-up medical! 100% VA Disability will do this to ya. Either way, as a current 1801 GS-13 and with the 5 letters of recommendation from HSI senior leadership, we'll see how this ship sails. Fingers crossed...

That's what I am trying to get (90-100)... A myriad of issues stemming from OEF/OIF/OND... Good thing I work in Fed LE. Fed LE LOVES disabled vets!

Yeah for sure! The funny thing is I work HSI already and despite my 100% rating, I'm in better physical shape than 90% of the office. Most never PT after they leave FLETC

I do PT once per the requirements of my job, but rarely on my own

    • So I called psu today and they said my background was still ongoing. my BI said they completed their end by may 18. Anyone know how long it took them to clear their BI?

100% rating and you want to work in LE? Something doesnt sound right here .. It's good that they ask you for all that

100% combined rating does not make me less than someone who has no rating. We have guys and girls missing limbs that serve as LEOs. I might have had some injuries in the military that carry a service rating and such... but I'm still able to perform all the PT standards.

You get to find your own and it's at your expense.

Own expense. If you have to see a specialist, getting an appointment within a short timeframe might be difficult.

      • I called and was told my med was still under review (over a month), I would be called for a drug screen (haven’t yet). Meanwhile, I’m close to an1811 final offer from another fed agency. While any agency may take awhile to process, it seems HSI has delays relating to outsourced companies and review timelines are long. FOH is much quicker imo.

The only real benefit is the possibility of a better location. You still have to take the SA test battery again. I’ll just hope I get picked up from 2016 after this med review. Thursday’s seem to be good days for the call.

Yeah, me too. I still have to do the stuff that's required for my med review. It's all due on the 30th. And i just tweaked my knee while I was out running. I'll have to see how it feels in the morning.

          Great timing.

If you applied in 2016, and didn't give your resume to a SAC, you're not going to get a better location offered to you via the DH. You're going to go to the border or a normal new hire town

      • It’s Thursday, let’s see some calls !

Got "the call" last week...btw 2016 locations weren't as good as this most recent announcement. And if you wanna do both you can't. So basically if your almost done with this 2016 announcement just go with it. Otherwise, you will have to withdraw from the 2016 announcement and start from scratch on the new announcement test, writing sample ect. Seems like a waste of time for the agency as well as the applicants but what do I know. I was told that you can't be picked up then try to put in for better locations on different announcements (makes sense) Hang in there.

I'm in the 2016 opening and applied for the direct hire. I still have yet to pass the medical since I'm doing medical follow-up stuff right now for 2016. And, coincidentally, I hurt my knee running a few days ago. So, in my case, those are the only two good reasons for me also applying for the direct hire.

After you got the call, did they say you have to hang around the field office for a bit, or are you going straight to the academy?

      • BigE you have the option to start right away but I'm staying with my current employer until I get an academy start date. Lookin like Aug or Sept for academy.

Ah, so the starting right away would be the hanging around the office until you start the academy then?

          • Does anyone know if during their background all 3 of their references were contacted? Only one of mine was not the other two but my BI said she submitted my file already.

Well all my references were local but he asked to contact my supervisor and one reference. Then while interviewing at work asked for another which I called over from the office next door. Then he asked for my second listed one. Pretty much contacted every reference on the same day. Didn’t use all my listed. I’m in my third week in medical review just waiting. I think the background is not a worry.

Of the three, two were not contacted and I haven't spoken to the third to see if he was. However, I'm sure he would've called me if he had been called. The people I know were contacted were additional references the investigator asked for during the interview that I had not listed on the e-QIP.
