  • Greetings fellow posters,
I know this was asked around page 138, so I received the set up your medical exam email and they are asking for all my VA rating forms. So I'm former usmc with overall rating 90% all basically joints knees back nothing over 10%, the big chunk is they gave me a 50% rating for ptsd claimed as sleep disorder and anxiety, it also says that the ptsd related symptom were not considered permanent. Also this was 3 yrs ago and the anxiety was mainly from me being unemployed when leaving military. I been a federal LEO now for 3 yrs pass flex and all. Do you all think my VS rating will hinder me thru this usms med exam. I can pass medical easy.

Hey man I had a similar issue, I had 30% for insomnia but it was described as PTSD or anxiety even though I never claimed PTSD. When you go in for the physical theyll ask about it. That was the first thing my Dr asked when I walked in, "whats the deal with the PTSD". I told her I didn't have PTSD and all I had was some trouble sleeping. She said that was fine and she would write down that it wasn't an issue but said that its not disqualifying. She said worst case scenario they would ask you to see a specialist and have them confirm that it wasn't going to be an issue. I never got called to see a specialist and im just waiting for my FIT in a few days

      hope that helps

Yes thank you Bishop for the reply, I am hoping it will go something like that.

  • Do anyone know if the internal folks are at interviews yet?

But again I am going off interpretations of others' posts, so someone correct me if I am wrong..
As I understand it districts have a say but ultimately it is headquarters who has the final say. I'd imagine a ton of problems would ensue if you allowed each district to be completely autonomous when it came to hiring and selections.

DC was not in either of their wish lists. The second location he eventually selected after declining superior court was some obscure district on the left coast.

I was told that HQ selects candidates for the pool and then pushes resumes out to the available districts for them to select who they want. If you don't make the pool than a district can't select you, even if you pass everything. Im sure Hq can override a district Marshal, but doubt it happens very often.

        • I have had three different chiefs tell me HR is making the selections for this hiring announcement. Once the selection has been made, they may afford the local office an opportunity to make "the call."

Well I know 100% I was contacted by an Assistant Chief and then contacted shortly there after by the Chief of a USMS office. Its very competitive from the list they have currently. Good luck to all !

I am just a guy who likes to help people out. LOL

        • Received that infamous "Call" today earlier, well mine was in a text message, but its definitely competitive out there with the pool of applicants they have. However, good luck to all. There is light at the end of this tunnel. Also, I was called about a location on my Wish-List, not D.C.

When I interviewed with the District Marshal he told me he was sent paperwork for five people for the one slot that was going to be filled during the June academy class. He said he would decide who he wanted and let HR know. He did also say HR has the final say on hiring but I would say his recommendation carries a little sway on who they hire for his office.

It sounds like it is different for every office and applicant. There have been several people on here who said they were only offered D.C. and it was a yes or no without an interview. I was offered three locations and then my paperwork was forwarded to the office I picked to see if the Marshal was interested enough to interview/select me.

That would make a lot more sense. Some of these guys are very well respected in the agency. I can't see them having absolutely no input.

Nothing in writing yet. As Have gun will travel mentioned. I'm in exactly the same boat, numerous applicants will be referred for 1 or 2 slots to be filled. I could or I couldn't be one of them. But I was only contacted for one location. Fingers crossed at this moment. They did ask me if any other districts contacted me, so seems others still have opportunities to snatch us candidates up too if not selected for one office.

Have they asked you for your current SF50 to adjust and figure out your pay and leave etc? I have a friend that had that occur very recently from Super Court offer.

          • Granted you do well on the FIT, what are the chances of getting a call from an office? I know June and Aug academy dates have been passed around, but it seems like there aren't enough slots in these field offices for as many applicants as there are.

          • Anyone have any info if the June class has been filled or are calls still going out?

Probably because there isnt! Probably 3 or 4 TO per slot.

I think its actually 1-2 in all reality.

            • The biggest issue right now is security clearance. They recently had a national conference call to discuss the fact they have been losing a ton of great applicants to other agencies that run their own background programs, because the life cycle of the clearance process under OPM has been taking an average of 364 days.

If you have a clearance, I would focus on being prepared for the FIT and rest easy. If you don't, try to take some comfort in knowing they are actively trying to resolve this issue. I know we are all excited about the possibility of working with the USMS; however, there is only so much we can control. I suggest we focus on those things, like a secondary interview with a chief, and be ready for when the opportunity presents itself.

That's my issue. I completed the medical in October 2016 but haven't heard anything since that and the urinalysis. I'm waiting for OPM to complete my b.i. that they started mid August 2016. Since the b.i. stage follows medical, I'm hoping they can reciprocate it. OPMs website says their goal is 120 day. They better update it if it's taking three times that long.

            • Anyone who got their TO 2-3 weeks ago been reached out to for medical yet? I'm not sweating it as I think our class won't happen until 2018 but I want to make sure all my stuff is in order. It's been radio silence since April 14 and according to their own paperwork they would reach out within 30 days for medical. Come to think of it I did not even get a response when I sent my OF-306 form in. No biggie though it will all happen in good time.
