I just sent paperwork back in from my surgeon. Had shoulder surgery 3 years ago. I wasn't able to go in for a physical with him since I've since moved away from where I got it. No response yet other than received. I was cleared to return to duty as a law enforcement officer so hopefully nothing gets messed up by it.

You have to meet the minimum scores from the fitness standards chart to pass. Having said that, the USMS proud themselves on everything about fitness. If your application package gets picked up for review by any office chief, and your PT scores are not the best, most likely they are going to pass on you. For every applicant that scores 75% on the FIT test, there are 5 more with scores in the high 90s.
I also recognize how strongly USMS feels about fitness (and I'm completely on board with that), so it could very well happen. I was just under the impression that a class 'group' had essentially been chosen and sent FIT tests. As the tests come back complete, the class fills in, as opposed to sending out FIT's en-masse for a large pool of FIT tested candidates from whence classes would be filled. But I'm just a guy speculating away over here and obviously defer to the more knowledgeable here (you know, the guys actually ON the job).
Regardless, I am slaying myself nearly every day. Mental toughness is the hardest to train.

I was under the impression that, at this stage of this game, the FIT test was offered as a pre req for a final offer. As long as you passed the FIT, then you would receive the offer. I'd think it would be out of sorts to spend all this time and money on qualified candidates, only to pass over them in the end because their PT scores weren't high enough. Failing the test, I could completely understand the pass, and getting minimum scores drawing unwanted attention at FLETC I can definitely understand, but ending a candidates potential employment on an arbitrary feeling seems odd.

FIT scores are a huge factor when these Chiefs review the application packages. If they like you as an applicant, they will notify HRD with their decision and you may get a final offer then. Not everyone who gets a FIT test and pass will get a final offer. The USMS hiring process is one of the most competitive process in federal law enforcement. In actuality, every applicant should score in the high 90%, since this is the only part of the process that is under the applicant's control. At this point, there is no excuse not to score high on you FIT test.
