Let's just say that number is astronomical compared to what I am used to. If they have been doing these types of numbers since August then I'm going to consider my chances non-existent at best. With that being said I'm fine tuning the resume to give it another go when the pathways deal opens up as I just knocked out my masters in the fall. I read many of your posts when you contribute I'm really surprised you didn't get referred. Do you think it was the assessment that bumped you?
    The USMS only interviewed 1300 from what I heard. Also someone esle posted this a couple of days ago. All those people WONT get a TO. I bet only about 200 will get one and I'm just guessing. For those who have TOs, not everyone will get hired. The USMS is starting a two new announcements sometime this year. I wouldn't get caught up with the numbers. Agencies always want to make sure it has more than enough, people turn down jobs for whatever reasons. The good thing is you have a TO and there is a chance you could get hired!! GL! I'm waiting on the next two announcements to launch.

      Yea I hear what your saying. I still think that number is huge for interviews. I am aware of the pathways announcement but what is the other announcement that is expected this year?

        HRD has completed the 2016 hiring drive and is in discussion with OPM to set up more hiring in 2017. We will have an entry level DUSM, GL-0082-07 announcement in 2017. This announcement will post as a public/DE announcement and will not be limited to government wide. Applicants who apply will be eligible for positions nationwide and not limited to specific regions.
        Currently the order of posting announcements will be:
        o Region 3 – Puerto Rico Posted 2/16/16 - Closed
        o CI, GS-1811-12 Gov't wide Posted 4/27/2016 - Closed
        o DUSM GL-0082 07 Gov't wide Posted: 6/8/2016 - Closed
        o DUSM Recent Graduate Pathways Posting Date: TBD
        o DUSM GL-0082-07 DE/Public Posting Date: TBD
        o Internal MP DUSM Announcement Posting Date: March 2017

        As a reminder, the USMS has three remaining Basic Deputy Classes scheduled for FY2017:

        * February 2017 (1811)

        * June 2017

        * August 2017

        Applicants from the 1811 Announcement will make up the pool for the February 2017 class. The June and August classes will be made up of applicants from the PR Announcement, the 2016 DUSM announcement and a future Internal MP 2017 announcement. We anticipate the Internal MP 2017 announcement to occur in March 2017.

            I was wondering about that. Considering on how they can only hire military, public safety personnel, etc., maybe they'll continue with the Recent Grad, but only consider those options.

            • Hopefully all of the announcements will happen but I have doubts about the pathways program announcement happening because it's basically a non-essential position being an intern and getting paid GS 5 pay

              • personally, i'm not going i worry about this hiring freeze. it will most likely be over by the time an academy would roll around in June/August. probably won't change anything as far as we are concerned.

                  Exactly, 90days it said, in federal time that is nothing. You wont even notice it, plus I received a medical email so they arent stopping.

                    yup, some friends got contacted by BI last week, some more today, so they're certainly not putting anything on hold.

                      The USMS Pathways Recent Graduates Program is not an internship program. Applicants will get hired and sent directly to the USMS academy to become a DUSM.

                      • Well, I think we can still have some hope then. I shall wait diligently.

                          That's not true..... you have to serve as an trainee for 2 years then afterwards you will be evaluated then they will determine if you get the job. If you get the job you will then be sent to FLETC for training.

                            Not to sound like an axx but Max is a USMS. Hes been super accurate since day one. So I'm sure he knows what hes talking about. Just take it for what its worth.

                              • Based on everything I have seen in my agency and the Marshals leading up to this point it sounds like this freeze has been anticipated since November's election. With that being said it would not surprise me if the Marshal service already had their exemption plan/write up written and on the desk of the DOJ head shed for approval. Call it speculation or positive optimism.

                                On the bright side this means all you guys who have to go to CITP maybe you can actually breathe when you go down there. The last 3 times I have been down to Glynco it was ridiculously packed and made everything that much more difficult in terms of wait times and overall quality of life. Any of you guys who have T.O.'s already have CITP knocked out already?
