    The External Deputy U.S. Marshal Hiring Drive

    HRD has completed the 2016 hiring drive and is in discussion with OPM to set up more hiring in 2017. We will have an entry level DUSM, GL-0082-07 announcement in 2017. This announcement will post as a public/DE announcement and will not be limited to government wide. Applicants who apply will be eligible for positions nationwide and not limited to specific regions.
    Currently the order of posting announcements will be:
    o Region 3 – Puerto Rico Posted 2/16/16 - Closed
    o CI, GS-1811-12 Gov't wide Posted 4/27/2016 - Closed
    o DUSM GL-0082 07 Gov't wide Posted: 6/8/2016 - Closed
    o DUSM Recent Graduate Pathways Posting Date: TBD
    o DUSM GL-0082-07 DE/Public Posting Date: TBD
    o Internal MP DUSM Announcement Posting Date: March 2017

    As a reminder, the USMS has three remaining Basic Deputy Classes scheduled for FY2017:

    * February 2017 (1811)

    * June 2017

    * August 2017

    Applicants from the 1811 Announcement will make up the pool for the February 2017 class. The June and August classes will be made up of applicants from the PR Announcement, the 2016 DUSM announcement and a future Internal MP 2017 announcement. We anticipate the Internal MP 2017 announcement to occur in March 2017.
    Max,

    Im hearing the USMS will eventually be going to Schedule B, have you heard anything?

    Will the Pathways announcement scheduled for this month still?

    • So I'm assuming, the applicants for the Recent Grads won't be seeing a class date this year. Does that seem accurate from the statement?

      • Regardless, I'm still applying and hoping for the best. Always stay positive guys!

          I do know someone IRL who was DQ'd by USMS for PTSD at like 70%. Even if you don't get a rating you will probably have to explain your mental health professional visits.
          Did the guy you know file a complaint or seek reparations for disability discrimination? If that's true, then he definitely should have.

            Do you mean 30% rating for PTSD? Any rating for PTSD will be questioned and reviewed by the medical staff. You will have to disclose all of your military medical history, including mental health issues. Due to the nature of the job, you are required to disclose this information. We have many former military with VA ratings all the way to 60%, not PTSD related. many of these were in the special operations field. Pretty much, if you have any rating for PTSD, you will have an uphill battle trying to get hire for a DUSM position. This is not considered discrimination for this position. Due to the stressful nature of the DUSM position the hiring requirements are different from a non-LEO federal position.

                I haven't heard anything about Arlington October people receiving TOs yet. However, I do not believe my interview went well, first time in my life I don't feel like I knocked an interview out of the park. So I am not expecting a TO to be honest.

                  I interviewed in ATL /October and I still haven't gotten a TO and I think I had a decent interview.I haven't seen anyone from ATL get a TO as yet. I'm still hopeful, I think the process is lengthy. I wouldn't be discouraged as yet ,just keep checking

                    • Got my fingerprints rolled yesterday. Marshal I spoke with said what everyone on here already knows basically. Progress from 7-9-11 and at 11 you are converted to 1811 and get leap. Stated it's what you make of it and what office you're in. He says he has court everyday at some points by. But he can work his own cases too. Basically it's what yo make of it. But you won't be a door kicker everyday.

                          • I hope they send an email out regardless. I do not want to be sitting in limbo if I wasn't selected.
