You get locality during training but not LEAP. You'll get LEAP once you graduate.

Regarding moving expenses and time. That's on you. You'll have to use Leave you accrue during training/transfer (if former fed) to do all that. You won't be taking any leave during training so you'll have a decent chunk saved up.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but from the COE to training is a long ways away (as in months). Many will be dropped because of the poly, medical, etc. That's not to sound pessimistic. It's just reality. Good luck to all of you. The gig and money is pretty good if you get it.
How do people fail the medical? Is it an extensive exam?

    • question for any current feds that received a COE. Did you have to resubmit your eqip? I received my COE Detroit on March 2nd and now have a star over pre-appointment background check March 6 and it states no further steps. should I have received something in an email to at least update my eqip? I did just have a 5 year background investigation last summer.

You won't have to start over, but you will need to update, recertify, and resubmit.

For those that already have an active clearance, you will still be required to undergo a TSA background investigation. I asked about that during the FO assessment because I have a clearance with DHS. Although, I imagine the timeframe would be much shorter for those in that situation. I hope.

Was the e-quip completed online or did you download the pdf file, I would like to start working on it before getting the email since its almost 200 pages but I would hate to have it ready but not be able to use the file.
It will be online, but if you have never completed it before, including the old epsq or hard copy sf86, I recommend getting started before you get access to eqip. It's typically a lot of information, especially if you're older, or moved around a lot, or have had many jobs.

Well that's potentially good news. I have an active clearance and haven't heard anything since accepting the conditional offer. I now have a star over the pre-appointment background check block.

I'm a current fed and I have gotten a COE, but have not received the eqip email. But I do not yet have a star or anything over the background check.

I was told at the FO assessment that even if you have a security clearance, TSA will do a background investigation. And I know that even if you have an active clearance, if you're moving to a new agency/component, you typically will have to, at the very least, update, recertify, and resubmit eqip.

              • I've take a look at the 86 and it's super long. I had a clearance thru the military, it's no longer active. Does having a prior clearance help expedite the process at all?

                • For anyone who happened to miss your call, how long did it take for them to call you again?

                      • I just called the HRaccess Helpdesk number that was given to me to see if I could obtain some kind of answer as to when I could expect a response as far as to when I could expect to receive a COE or even just a response to some inquiries that I raised. I should've just went down the street to the local Chinese Restaurant and opened up a damn fortune cookie after a delicious meal of General Tso's chicken because that would've been more helpful than the response I received.

When did you get the checkmark over selection decision? Some guys it's taken 5 to 7 business days to get the COE.

I haven't gotten the checkmark over the selection decision yet----that is what I'm waiting for. I've heard people say it may take longer than what you posted, but at the same time it appears that some others are receiving their checkmarks quite rapidly. I applied to pretty much every office except for three of them. Who knows....still waiting patiently.

Oh ok, that may explain why you got a vague email response concerning your COE. The help desk won't be able to tell you much since your file is in the hands of the FOs.

Your answer makes more sense than anything I've received from the Helpdesk to date. I didn't receive any email from the Helpdesk but was told that I would receive one concerning some inquiries that I raised. They said they had to transfer my inquiries to a "specialist" as the inquiries were too "specialized" for them to answer. I guess...Still waiting...
