    Former FAM,

From what I remember, they start former fed LEo's (mostly guys come from UD, Capitol, CBP, BP, pentagon, probation, and Park) much higher than other new hires.

      Pat1686,

Matching after completion is a no go. You will be getting your Salary in your final offer letter. You will accept the position with all the agreement along with your salary before you start with this agency. All your pervious Law Enforcement and Education will be factored into your salary. I am not sure if they have a link, but it's under TSA website with a break down on salary. If you have experience and Bachelor degree or Master degree, then you will get a higher starting salary over those that only meet the basic requirements.

It is either matched when they give you an offer, or not at all. There are not terms or contingencies (i.e. complete academy).

DHS to DHS should be close to an exact match as possible. Not sure for other agencies.

This is definitely something I think a lot of us would like to see, can you give more details of where to find the breakdown?
          Thanks

As I recall, no set break-down.

HQ comes up with the offer based on your background........they make the offer.....and you either take it or leave it.

If you try to negotiate, I can only suspect they will tell you to go away as they have literally 1000s of folks wanting this job and they can lowball them to save money.....

              Trispengel,

Bearcat is correct, this is something at the HQ admin level will figure out. I can tell you that not everyone has the same starting salaries because everyone has a different level of experience and education. However, like he stated that you would not able to negotiate your salary because there's a big pool of candidates standing by to take the job with the lowest starting salary. In order to get more pay, you must mentioned your experience and education level on your initial resume when you applied. They will only request supporting documents to figure out your salary such as DD214, College Degree/transcript, Previous law enforcement training certificates, etc.... before the final offer.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with, Assuming I get a offer that is.

                    • Yeah I figured as much for the matching after completion. I figured they would at least come close to it especially with years of federal service already. Although I have been told that everyone comes in on the G band and thats where Im trying to find out where that would be if at all. Obviously thats an HR thing so hopefully its good news come the final offer. I have also heard a rumor that FAMs is instituting a new policy stating that all new hires are going to be required to complete 2 years on the job before going onto the next pay band which would be H then I. Not sure if anyone has heard something along those lines.

                      • anyone have any ideas from experience about this?: Called persec last week, was told my file was submitted for adjudication. Does that mean I "passed" my poly or does it mean something else? Thanks in advance!

" After the background is completed, again, my Personnel Security Specialists, they gather all of the information regarding an individual’s background. They then go through what we call the adjudication phase. And in the adjudication phase we get all of the information. The term that we use is ‘the whole person.’ We try to assess the person as a ‘whole’ and not putting too much emphasis on any one particular area that may raise a flag, but try and look at a person as a ‘whole’ and determine their suitability and whether they meet our security standards. Once they have reviewed, gotten all of the information in, they make their adjudication and it’s basically a yes or no call from the Personnel Security Specialists. Then we have various levels of review.”

Try googling it, should give you a better idea.
