Is there any way to get notified the next time an announcement for ERO comes out?

Yes and no.
You can set up a saved search for Deportation Officer with ICE and set it up to notify you with results every day. You will get an email about 0100 Eastern Time if there are any results; however, if the announcement opened for only 1,000 applicants and say closed after a few hours then you will not get a notification.

One more question, I'm currently processing for CBP, if I get on the job with them, does it help with job opportunities/getting hired with ICE?

If your end game is to work for ERO then starting out with Border Patrol would be much more beneficial. BPAs are Academy exempt. All most all of our recent hires have come from the BP ranks. CBPOs are not academy exempt and there hasn’t been a single pickup from CBP at my office since I’ve been with ICE (9 years). The only prior CBPOs at my office were all legacy Immigration Imspectors and were academy exempt. All came on board around 2005 or 2006.

CBPOs do not tend to be very competitive for the limited openings in ERO when there are hundreds if not thousands of BPAs trying to get off of the border.

EXBPA is half right. I know a couple of CBPO that are DOs. I personally don't think BPA are as competitive as you make them out to be. The new hires were had from BP, were remedial at best.

Who else is waiting on background? I know the are a few waiting on medical. For the ones that are EOD at their field offices, do you report that one day? Or is it for the entire time until Fletc?

You can start FLETC without them finishing your background.

That’s incorrect was told directly by psu the only way that would happen is if you have had a previous federal investigation done. Those of us without clearances have to complete the background before being brought on.

I was told today that I am now in the July academy but my eod did not change. I guess the June academy was overbooked or something.

Got a letter from the eod, i have to explain some blemishes on my credit and a few other things. Not sure if my explanation are gonna help or if they're just going thru the motions and then denying me a job. I got 10 days to explain and provide proof of payment on some paid off collections.

I had to do something similar for some medical stuff when I started for BOP, if they want documentation then that is probably a better sign than just summarily disqualifying you with out giving you the chance to explain the circumstances behind it.

ICE does match pay coming from another agency right?

In theory, especially if your pay is less than a 7-10...

No. Gone are the days of 7-00, or 9-00 to macth your pay. It depends on the announcement you were hired under though. My announcement was for an entry level position with DO as a 5 or 7. I was a 12-6 with another fed agency. I entered DO as a 7-10. After 90 days I can put in a memo for my 11. One year after that I’ll get my 12 pay back.

The expedited promotions are for BPAs and maybe CBPOs. Other federal employees will not have expedited promotions.
