She told me to call every week and that it takes 2-4 weeks for them to clear it.

Yeah I wouldn't re apply unless you really really want to move to another state and/or possibly lose consideration.. I'd just keep waiting.

If you need to apply again next year the so be it, but to lose consideration due to being impatient now that would suck.

Seems like it's been quiet since the last selections for the academy.
The funding for the new hires was approved and allotted last year. We have reviewed many new hires from this announcement recently, most were prior BPA though.

Um...no. If they put out another announcement and you don't re-apply, you're done the day they stop hiring from the last list you were on. If the past repeats, they will notify everyone still under consideration from this announcement a day or so before the new announcement hits to tell you that it's about to be posted and that you should re-apply. There very well may be a period of time between when the new announcement posts to when TSLs for that announcement go out and such where they are still hiring from the last announcement. It would be wise to be on both lists...

How are you gonna hire people from new announcement to same city when there are people already cleared from the previous announcement?

Won't happen. Unless, you apply for a new city. Even then, you will most likely be removed from consideration for your previous city. You don't just stay on both lists if they're different cities. If same city, re applying should move you to the bottom of the list. Not fair to someone who was cleared for months and on the list then someone new applies and gets priority over you.

If you're not hired by the time the new announcement hits, be sure to not re-apply and when they close out the certificate that you're on, let me know how valuable your "spot" on that certificate is...

You are wrong in your perception of how federal hiring certificates of eligibles work. Be sure to call ICE and say "but I had a spot on that other certificate" when you're not on the one they are currently working and they are done working the previous one. I am sure they will tell you that you were advised to re-apply and if you chose to not do so, it's your problem.

                  • Luny,

Fed2015 is correct in what he is saying. Anyone who doesn't place themselves back on the list through the new announcement is going to potentially screw themselves. Candidates, according to ICE HR, are placed in order by when they finish processing first. So if you are already done you go to the top of the list. If numerous people are already done then you all go to the top of the list based on scores so you're back to where you were before but on a NEW list.

Yes, you may still be pulled off the 'old list' like the IEA announcement previous to this new DO announcement we're all processing on. Not worth the risk though. I'm telling you, ICE HR told me that if I don't put in for the new announcement or I screw up my application I would not be considered for hire. If you disagree, please, take my 2 cents for what it's worth and give them a jingle.

                    Good luck all.

So if a new announcement comes in may.. Or june..As the rummor was.. We are done? Maybe ICE will simply stop doing BI and medical...

ICE medical told me it takes 2-4 weeks for MRO to review and make hiring recommendation... Today is my three weeks, exactly, since I submitted my follow up.. If ICE medical is correct, I should hear something by next wednesday. I will keep you informed..

Actually, what I am more curious to see... is if there is a new change in the hiring process (because DO is new).... a requirement, change in policy, etc. that may force EVERYONE to re-process.

Something similar happened years ago with CBP when they got rid of the federal career intern program and the mandatory retirement age changed. Old lists were exhausted and shredded even though people were done processing off it.

I hope I am wrong but I think everyone is going to be re-applying or will be asked to. Nothing bad will come of it by doing so. You won't lose your place is line.

You give the right and left hands way too much credit for communication. They will continue processing you until someone tells them otherwise, requires proactive communication and someone to make a decision, or they finish your process (most likely outcome) given the time they will likely leave the current certificate open while they process the new certificate through TSLs and at least getting people scheduled for tests on that certificate. You should be fine, but you need to make sure you re-apply and get a TSL under the new announcement.

They only change I could see in the ICE process that would cause that to happen would be if they started doing polygraphs.

Eh, definitely a possibility. If we see a polygraph specialist job title open up within ICE (numerous ones at that) in the next 6 months then that will probably be true, lol. CBP did so in anticipation of the 2015 mandate that all new applications would take a polygraph... that was pushed to 2016... 2017... to ?
