  • Are CBP and Border Patrol Entrance Exams the same?

    See Title^

I figure they'd be pretty much the same. If they differ, in what ways? Took my CBP test a few weeks ago and I take the Border Patrol test Wednesday. I'm curious if I should stress studying up in other areas.

Oh, odd there's no math portion. Regarding the Spanish section, how's that work? I speak minimal Spanish, I understand the language and know I pick it up quickly, but I know I'm not fluent by any means. I heard that some agencies/positions send you through a 6 week pass/fail course. If I bomb the Spanish portion of the Border Patrol test is that alright? Will they send me through that 6 week course?

They put you through a simulated language exam that gauges your ability to learn a new language. You have to pass that.

BP Spanish is 40 training days.

It's not that odd to find math on the CBPO test and Spanish on the BPA test.

CBP Officers, at least in theory, do customs work and a fair bit of Customs is the collection of revenue. Plus, a fair amount of both customs and immigration work also involves the collection of fees and penalties.

On the other hand, roughly 90 percent of BP Agents are on the Mexican border. The need for Spanish is far more generalized within OBP than within OFO.
