    Hey everyone,

Just wondering what recent info there is on the DEA GS-0132-7/9 positions that just closed. It said "Many vacancies" in Washington State, and I'm just curious to see what info there is regarding who they tend to hire and what the job is like. Should I not expect to go too far if I'm not a veteran?

    Thanks in advance!

I checked into this position last week..My 1811 sources say this job is basically like a secretary for them. They are a support element for operations. I dont like the low pay , but I could for see it leading to an 1811 spot if you have supplemental investigative experience.

    Thanks in advance!

I was once a DI with DEA and know that the 0132 is a core series of DEA (1811, 1801, 0132). You will find it fairly difficult, but not impossible, to transition to an 1811. Each of the three serve their own purpose supporting the functions and mission of DEA. The 0132 position is an office job with primarily 8-5 hours and very little interaction outside of the office. You will work with other agencies for gathering intel and will make connections around the world. Honestly, I never had any good dealings with most of the 0132s and felt that many, but not all, milked the position. Maybe it was just the offices I worked in. The potential to come across great cases will be office dependent. I also know that like any position within DEA, you can do as little or as great of work as you want. You really can make the job what you want it to be...just know that you have no authority and this is an Intel-office type position. I can imagine that being an 0132 in SOD would be much more interesting than working in DO of RO. Generally speaking, you will likely be uploading phone data, running inquires and linking folks together. The position requires a TS and you will likely not deal with secret or TS info on a regular basis. Again, this could be office dependent. Do not go into an interview and state that your goal is to be an 1811. This is a career gig to 13 without competition and they plan on you being in that position for a while. You will have to go to Quantico, just like the 1801 and 1811 positions. I never experienced it, but many say that depending on what office you are in, you will likely feel like a second class citizen to the 1811 position. Hope this helps a little...and this is a really good gig to get in the door/federal system.
