They want to hire 500 more agents by the end of FY 2017. 250 plus agents are going to be retiring. I'm so ready to get on with HSI. Love this place so much!!! Currently an intern with there BEST team.

          • Still moving- slowly but surely

Non-one stop applicant here. Got my medical letter the week before last asking me to go to THREE different specialists. (Clearly I was WAY too honest during the medical eval.) I went to 2 of the doctors, the 3rd was for something that happened almost 20 years ago and the doctor is semi-retired, she doesn't keep records that long and doesn't see new patients (which I would be since I haven't seen her since 1999) she did submitted a letter to that effect today to ICE. I feel like I'm probably going to get disqualified for that reason. So frustrating- she already submitted records when I was first hired with ICE in 2008 but it is 8 years later and she doesn't keep records that long and ICE says they can't use the ones from when I was first hired. I got called last week and have my structured interview Wednesday. So there is still movement for non-one stop applicants.

That's good that we still have movement. We are only a few weeks behind the applicants who attended the one-stop, so there is a chance we will finish the process before October 1st.

              • Question for those that had to do EKG follow ups:

I did my stress test today and the letter from the medical people specifically said they were requesting the Bruce Protocol stress test. However, further down it requests a cardiologist report including things like bloodwork and an echocardiogram. Problem is that I can't get an appointment for an echo with the time allowed. Has anyone else had a similar letter? If so, did you only need the stress test and had to provide blood/echo tests if available or were they required?

I left a message and an e-mail with the medical people but I'm pretty nervous that I'll get bounced for not having those tests within the 14 days. Thanks gang.

                • Btw, the cardiologist said everything was perfectly fine on the stress test.

I had to provide the same stuff, and like you, my EKG and stress test were perfectly normal.

Anyhow, I had to get a referral from my primary care doctor to see the cardiologist. When I went to my primary care doctor, they had me fast for my complete blood draw labs. Doctor explained they probably wanted complete blood counts because some issues that can cause abnormal EKG (such as thyroid disorder) can be detected via blood tests.

So, my primary care doc sent my blood labs to DHC and my cardiologist sent my stress test results and a letter explaining he read what physical duties were required for the job (from the sheet, whatever they called it) to DHC via fax and explained I received a complete evaluation and there were no limitations to me performimg all duties of the job.

Be thorough, hustle, and provide them with everything they're asking for. You don't want additional delays. It took about 2.5-3 weeks for them to clear me after requesting all this additional info.

                    Good luck!

                    • Thanks for the insight BigPerm. They wrote me back today saying that if the Cardiologist didn't feel the tests were necessary to document it in his report and send it in with the stress test results. Hopefully doing that won't get me delayed or even worse, disqualified.

                      • Same experience as BigPerm here, though I just turned mine in Thursday so I have not heard back yet.

Like both of you the Cardioogist cleared me on everything. I had the blood work and referral done by my primary. The cardiologist performed an EKG, Echo, and Stress Test.

I'd say if you can't get in to call and ask for an extension I've heard they will grant them as there has been diffaculty getting into a cardiologist in two weeks.

Yes, I was One-Stop. I also applied for the Deportation Officer position and did that One-Stop too! I had a fully cleared BI from that, but ended up having to redo my medical...don't ask why because I don't know!

Keep your heads up. It will come sooner or later. Good luck guys!
