Oddly enough, it was the DEU. I didn't see an MP posting for the Bismark, ND vacancy.

Jesus Christ...
Just got another email for Bismark that said:
"PLEASE IGNORE THE EMAIL BELOW THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE RECEIVED PERTAINING TO THE POSITION ABOVE,
ANY OTHER EMAIL YOU RECEIVED SAYING THAT YOU WHERE NOT REFERRED DUE TO NOT BEING AN INDIAN
PREFERENCE CANDIDATE AND VETERANS PREFERENCE ELIGIBLE WAS THE APPROPRIATE EMAIL. WE APOLOGIZE
FOR THE CONFUSION AND YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED IF YOUR SITUATION CHANGES."
The below email, of course, being the one that said I was referred.Comment

Did anyone get referred for Wyoming 1811? I got referred, but Im a non native so I will not hold my breath on this one..Comment

Good luck picking up a BIA 1811 slot as a non-native outside applicant...
There are many upstanding professional native LEOs working for BIA, however its evident even in how they fly their announcements that they value native preference over experience, and will go through great efforts to be able to hire a native with zero experience over a highly qualified applicant who is non-native.
Show me one other federal law enforcement agency with LEO retirement that consistently flys positions starting out at the gs-3 or gs-4 paygrade (ie minimum requirement is 6 months general work experience).
ETA: Not trying to bash individual officers/agents working for BIA. some of those reservations are no joke and they earn their pay. Also not trying to discourage anyone whos thinking of applying, just sharing what can be expected from BIAs hiring mindset.Last edited by SteelCustodian; 11-05-2015, 11:22 AM.Comment
