Anyone else put in for this one?

If anyone on the job wouldn't mind sharing their experiences I would love to hear first hand accounts.

I did. There is another thread on USCP in the US States/DC forum. Not sure if you've come across that yet. However a vacancy-specific thread sounds good to me.

According to their website: "Please note that the hiring process may take up to six months." Soooo I'm going to guess 6-24mo.

    Good luck!

I didn't see the DC thread yet; thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, as with every other process, I am preparing for a long ride.

Good luck to you too sir!

Yeah, really. They're saying six months like that's long. I'm thinking, "I will be very impressed if it doesn't take longer than that..."

Haha right? However someone else that I PM'd from the other thread explained how the process works. I'll summarize what I found out (mix between USCP webpage and my conversation):

-All processing is located in DC and done on your own dime (sounds similar to the USSS UD ELAC).
-Get Referred & Receive Assessment Center Invite packet (I'm assuming your SF86, Medical Forms, etc. The usual.)
-DC Trip #1: POST, PRT, Orientation*
          -Receive a COE
-DC Trip #2: Take your Poly, Medical, and PSY Exams*
          -BI Begins
-DC Trip #3: Structured Panel Interview*
          -Get a class date
          -Much Rejoicing
          -Retire

*The applicant I spoke to was within commuting distance, however he mentioned that they try to do each trip in a day and that for those coming from far away, they try to keep the time between phases short (so like trips one and two maybe only a week or days apart). As I said, this is from a previous applicant so this vacancy may be different.

This is from the USCP website:

I applied last year and they had the most bizarre process imaginable. They did the BI and were calling references before I even went to DC for the interview and physical fitness stuff. Ultimately withdrew because my friend at the agency basically said you're stuck doing warm body mindless work for 4+ years before you even get a chance at decent assignments.

-Bitch about how ****ed up the agency is

              -Retire

I think your timeline missed a few key steps. Not to worry, I added them above

I was going to add in....

-Spend way too much in the gift shop
                -Regret decision
                -Accept decision
                -Slip and fall on ice
-Accept that your old body doesn't recover as quick as it used to
-Cry yourself to sleep at night
-Have your wife beat you just to feel something
-Ride the metro for 3hrs a day because you zone out into a depression-filled coma
-Complete your first week of standing post
-You tear your favorite pair of silkies.
                -You cry more.

But I wanted to save that for later in the thread... During post-poly limbo lol.

                      I applied.
We will see, I have put in for so many jobs at this point and nothing has panned out yet so, I learned to let the little light of hope inside just die.

                      Good luck to all!

Wait, why is everyone talking so much crap? Is it really that bad? I've read some stuff on other threads, but geez.

                          As with anything, it's relative.
Some people love the gig, some hate it.

                          D.C. is a weird place.

I wasn't really talking crap. Just referring to some of the stuff I read in other places. Like Shadowtrain said, "it's relative." Crap talking or no, we all still applied
