I sent over the writing sample and some follow up emails and nothing. The guy wasnt even professional enough to respond to any of them and no interview.
Had a similar experience a few years ago. I remember the name but won't post it here. Phone call out of the blue. Phone interview. Request for writing sample and asked if I'd be willing to come to DC for an interview. I was fine with heading to DC, but they wanted me to pay for the flight and it was within a week. I declined.

Very interesting outfit, though I have serious questions as to how many cases they actually work as they'd be bumping directly up to the FBI FCI shops on pretty much anything of interest. I'd still consider it for one of the offices west of the Mississippi.

Bumping this back up for the current posting. Anyone ever gotten anywhere with this outfit?

Dude! I have applied and been reffered to the last 5 annoucements. Applied to this one too. I am a 1811 that works for an agency that keeps me overseas and makes me move every 2-3 years. Have not heard a peak from any of the other referrals for this position. The only thing I'm missing is Master's Degree.

Oh Yeah, almost forgot that I called once (Actually Got Through) and was told my name was in their register, but other than that nothing!

I’m pretty much right there with turns applied. I use to be able to get the guy I interviewed with to answer my emails but no dice now. He was even on a TF I was on, in another area, and wouldn’t answer me there either. Kind of glad to hear that maybe it’s not just me

Hey my Hypothesis is that these positions are already spoken for/hand picked, and they are just advertising on USAJOBS to comply with the law and make things seem legit. Just my two cents though.

I suppose that could be but I’m not sure how often that happens with postings like this. Seems like it would be easier to fly the position a different way for that.

Well I got referred for at least one of them. We’ll see if that at least gets me an interview this time around.

Doubt it, they could easily obtain schedule B authority if they wanted to do that. Besides, people always say that about these sort of announcements and especially the '1 vacancy' announcements, but I know first hand that those 1 vacancy announcements can end up in a job as a random applicant.

Good luck to those who had them if they're on here!

Looks like they're doing interviews for the open announcement this coming week. Anyone going? This place is a hard nut to crack. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a terribly bad omen.

Yes. I also applied for this position and will be interviewing this upcoming week. I was informed it would be an initial panel immediately followed by a interview with the SAIC and that decisions would be made fairly quick. This is my second time applying to this office. The first time I only had the initial phone interview.

When did you do your most recent phone interview and when did get a call about the in person interview? I did the phone interview on 12/5 and they subsequently sent me an email right after the phone interview asking for a writing sample. I submitted the writing sample the next day on 12/06

Also if you don’t mind me asking, what part of the country are you? Did you apply to DC, Boulder, or both? Thanks!

The phone interview was 12/5, followed by immediate email of a writing sample. I was called on 12/6 about the in person interview this week 12/11. Fingers crossed it goes well. I’m in the NC/VA area and I applied for both locations. I was asked if i was open to other locations not listed in the posting...

Gotcha. Yeah they asked me same thing about being open to other locations as well during the phone interview. Just didn’t receive the call for the in person interview. Not sure if I was passed up or they are working off a list to schedule. Thanks for the info. Hope everything works out.

HA, points for GeoCities references. My take is it would be similar to working FBI FCI, but that FBI FCI would poach your good cases. Which is saying something. I am interested because it seems like the potential to actually work real counter intelligence cases is there, and at this point, I don't have much interest in working crim cases. They didn't seem interested in hard charger traditional 1811s. Who's to say though, and I'm sure as heck not paying for a flight and lodging to waste my time on another interview.

What if the flight eliminates most people and showing up is really all they want to see? At least they offered you the chance

I've never flown for an interview for a job, and not received the firm offer. One of them was a short list of 10. I think someone I knew who worked there said that when they selected the short list of ten, 3 of the people declined the interview when they got the call for it, or didn't show. So widdling the field down to 7 before I even showed up certainly helped.

Point being, is if you don't go, you'll never know.

We ARE talking about the fed here. They have budget to assist in flying people to them to interviews. And, just pretending that they don't, we have the tech now to conduct interviews via other means, even proctored through other cooperating agencies. Its a bit nutty to suggest that they'd utilize a flight to dwindle the numbers, what if the ideal candidate doesn't have the means to fly to them during their interview times? (like the first time I got an invite with under a weeks notice) Seems like a really odd way to hire people.
