  • LBAPD Recruiting (LI,NY)

Long Beach Auxiliary Police Department is looking for new recruits.

The Long Beach Auxiliary Police Department, located in the City of Long Beach, NY on the South Shore of Long Island, is an organization composed of civilian volunteers who come from all corners of the community including doctors, lawyers, local business owners, housewives, educators, students and beyond. Our members attend and receive extensive training, conducted by the Nassau County Auxiliary Police Academy, which allows us to provide first class professional services to our community.

Our regular patrols take place Monday through Friday year round.

Last Year, the LBAPD membership volunteered over 10,000 hours, patrolling approximately 275 days and participating in over 75 special events. Daily patrols are one of our top priorities as well as our numerous special events.

Regular patrols commence at 7:00pm and end at 11:00pm and generally include responding to emergency scenes to provide traffic control for the police, fire and rescue departments.

In addition, we are always on the lookout for potentially dangerous or illegal situations. In the event of such a situation, we are in direct contact with Police Headquarters and can report and notify the appropriate help immediately.

Our weekly patrol schedule is also expanded during the summer to include weekend patrols. The weekend patrols are manned by rotating the weekday patrols on an alternating schedule.

The beginning of summer also marks the busiest time of the year in Long Beach. To help the Police Department and Life Guards compensate for the huge influx of people that make their way to our City each day, we also commence with beach patrols by utilizing our four wheel drive vehicles to ensure the safe behavior of all visitors as well as helping the Police Department enforce the laws and ordinances of Long Beach.

During the busiest times, we combine our Bike Patrols on the boardwalk and our Beach Patrols on the sand while our regular patrols are in the streets to provide maximum coverage City wide, ensuring the safety of all our residents and guests.

Each year, the LBAPD is responsible for helping many people by assisting with disabled motorists, reuniting lost children with their families, providing assistance for injured people and helping crime victims receive rapid police and medical assistance.
