  • Cbpo or bpa entrance on duty (eod) first day experience

Hello, the main reason for this thread is to know exactly how was the first day in the job, please tell us about your EOD experience, what did you do ? how many hours you worked ? were you shadowing another CBPO ? thanks for the answers.

CBP Officer and BP Agent are two different jobs. That being said, I am willing to bet the first day is the same. Paperwork....lots of paperwork. Your EOD is all paperwork like bank info, insurance, retirement, beneficiaries...etc. That is how it was for BP in '08.

I am a BPA, and I was hired back in 2011, so this might not be 100% up to date info any more, but here goes.

I EOD'd in Tucson sector at a hotel near the Tucson airport. All of the trainees who were in my class and working at any station in Tucson sector stayed at that hotel for the night before. Our actual EOD took place in the hotel conference room. We only met a few actual BPAs that day, as we mostly were dealing with HR specialists. Representatives of the agency were there and gave us an orientation, and we filled out a bunch of paperwork. We did not visit our respective stations for the first time until the second day on the job. I didn't get to visit sector headquarters for the first time until about 4 months after I graduated the academy.

EOD last like one day or maybe two...then it's off to the academy. Yes the academy is 5 days a week and hours vary. Some days you may be off slightly early and some you may work 10 hours. I wouldn't worry too much about any of this right now. I would venture a guess that all things to do with hiring is going to slow down quite a bit in the next few months. FYI, we are all about to lose 40% of our pay...might want to rethink joining the Patrol...just sayin'.

Yes I am serious. Do some research and you will find out all about the cuts. It is specifically targeting BP.

-Just saw that you're OFO...enjoy the port!!!

OFO is slashing their OT as well. They've been do it for years, truth be told. Death by a thousand cuts...or something similar.

If you're wise, don't plan on seeing much for OT, at least in OFO. That well has mostly ran dry. If you're lucky, you see it. If not, you won't.
