  • Standardized Hiring / Civil Service Exam

A little background info: I have a BS in Accounting and I am about to finish up my law degree this spring. Unfortunately, it took me this long to figure out that I cannot stand sitting at a desk all day and shuffling papers around. My goal is to become a detective/special agent/investigator.

I have applied to a number of the federal agencies and made it through varying stages of the selection process with no luck. However, I have never done very well in applying for jobs which are standardized/online job postings.

Are there any LE jobs which are more discretionary in their hiring?

What do you mean by 'discretionary?'

all federal LE jobs require online applications. 99% of all fed leo jobs require a standardized written exam, a PEB/ Physical Exam, background investigation, at least one interview, and more. You pass a step, you move forward. you fail; you don't. that's about all there is to it.

I used this format, it's been working for me. Granted, I modified it quite a bit but it works.
