  • There's another post on a separate forum that reaffirms the fact that those of us October 15 and later may be waiting a while. There's probably enough on the shelf to fill all FY18 classes which leaves us at FY19 at the earliest.

    • Well everyone better just withdraw......

      • Ha, almost comedic. I guess better to be in it at all though.

        • True, definitely good to still be in it. I am hoping by this point they know they want to hire us it's just a matter of waiting our turn. I am curious how it's going to play out though with things expiring. In my initial packet when I applied it said written test is good for 3 years and interview is good for 2 years. I am over 1 year since my interview already.

          • Same. I wonder what would happen after the two year mark for the interview? Also could they not eventually push us through and then give us a tentative class date? IE we got through everything in October of 17 and they say hey your class is June of 18?

            • I speculate that everybody will speculate on speculations based on second and third hand "I heard" statements. It's like a 24hr news channel here.

To those with the most patience goes the spoils.......

            • On a side note, today is my one year anniversary since my initial medical.

              • Look at the bright side. If they are hiring schedule b's at a GS 07/09 and you stay in the process for 4 years, I would speculate they will offer you a GS 12 in your final offer. To sweeten the deal I would speculate your first move would also be paid for to compensate for all of the time spent checking for emails from HR. If anyone asks me if I am serious, I hope I never have to work with you : )

Makes this all seem like a waste of personal time, effort and money for some of us. If they had told me in October 2014 when I first contacted a recruiter, that I'd be waiting until 2019 at the earliest to maybe get in training, I would have walked away right then. That's probably why they don't ask "Ready for a drawn out 3 year circus where we tell you little to nothing along the way?". I know it's typical but that's a bad excuse for hiring like this. The truly patient prevail, I guess. It sort of ensures you're serious after all those years.

When it comes down to it none of these 1811 gigs are worth 3-4 years of your life. Budgets, timing, and sheer GOV lack of efficiency and effectiveness are typically what you are dealing with. Not much will ever make sense. Easier said than done just applying and forgetting about the process. The lack of info given to applicants in the process drives everyone nuts putting together partial, bad or 3rd hand info. The time flies by and you still hang onto the thin thread that you are going to get the FO until it comes or doesn't. Can you imagine the private sector telling a very qualified applicant to wait 3 years to get hired! Haha. Hang in there, it's worth it in the end-I guess. The fun part is that you think the process is so competitive and that's why it took you soooo long to get in. Then you meet some of your classmates and say maybe I was wrong. Haha. Good luck everyone.

Just keep chugging along and staying positive. That's all you can do at this point. At least we're farther along than we were in July of 2016.

I used to think its competitive but the longer I'm in the process the more it seems like as long as you meet the minimum requirements it's just a waiting game. That's not meant as a dig on anyone. I'm an example of meeting minimum requirements actually, granted I have a unique background in explosives/bombs but I have zero LE or investigative experience.

So what's more desirable difficult to acquire training and skillset, or because it's a criminal investigation position the guys with LE backgrounds? I've come to learn it doesn't really matter, except you LE applicants tend to get the GL7 and GL9 offers where applicants like me are given GL5.

At this point whatever happens, it will be a pay cut, likely a relocation(unreimbursed), and a solid 6 months away from my family. I really want the job, and would love to hit the Certified Explosive Specialist track. With my age increasing the longer this takes, the sooner 57 rolls around for mandatory retirement. I guess this is best described as a bureaucratic cluster f like so much the Fed govt controls.

Keep your heads up. smokinghole, after 3-4 years you'll be able to slide right back to blowing stuff up. Your skill set is valuable and you'll be able to eventually fill a gap with that knowledge. Heads up!!!!!

              • Seems like there are only a few Oct. 2015 applicants on this forum.

                        Can your BI be reciprocated?

Yea, that's the million dollar question. Are you getting a full background completed? Also where are you processing out of and when were you contacted by the BI?

                    • Has anyone with recent BI meetings and investigations been emailed a form to fill out and sign shortly before it essentially saying "your BI info was given to us so long ago we just wanna check that none of the info has changed and needs to be updated."?

Me and a few guys at work all have TS clearances and have never been contacted by BIs at all until that form got emailed to us recently.

Just wondering if it means they are just starting my BI or if they are just wrapping up my reciprocation.

I think that means that your BI is starting or just an update, but I could be incorrect. There is a not a flow chart to the hiring that even the PIO/Recruiters are given. I'm a current TS with the agency but originally my background was reciprocated from DHS.

Given your placement on the list I would think that your BI has been completed although it does not have to be at this point. You could potentially be hired on and your BI still running. Trying to make sense of the process is a waste of time and just more mental anguish. Jump through the hoops and hit the gym.

Not sure if this was an option when you Oct 15ers applied, but the 2016 FedEx packets had an option where you could agree to be hired on while background was still going on and it would not have to be fully completed to be hired.

I honestly do not remember but I would have checked yes either way. I'm from the April 15 group (not that it matters).
