  • Received medical clearance today. It took almost exactly one year since my medical exam. April 2015 applicant. Moving along little by little...

    • Look like a good bit of April 15 guys still around

Almost all of the October 2014 guys are gone or have aged out with the wait (joke).... Still hanging in there. At least I have until 42 before I age out. Here is to hoping that does not happen!

As an April 15er with no known BI movement, I can only hope they are accepting my current clearance.
They have the option to accept it in the form of reciprocity. From what I know, they pick up where your last investigation ended. You are still vetted.

          • For those post-preference sheet, approximately how long did it take between receiving medical clearance and getting your final preference sheet? I am about 2 months post med clearance, and still no word; so, I was just curious what people experienced.

            • Haven't checked too far back but has anyone put out what locations are on the latest preference sheets? With the Secret Service it was normally the same few large offices each time, then a random location here and there.

              • It was four months post med clearance before I recieved the preference sheet. As for locations on the sheet that is not something I think ATF wants out there. Let's just say they are usually scattered throughout the country. Has anyone heard of someone getting in the July academy?

I am pretty sure they were originally May and June classes. Has the June been pushed back? I know the May class is still a go from someone who is listed to attend.

I previously stated our new agent starts in October. That was an error. They start in July.

                      • Would July be the last class this FY or is there another one squeezed in there before October?

                          • I heard that some people are getting calls for interviews. That's good I guess.

                            • Can any current or former 1811's confirm if an special agent is able to fight MMA and accept pay?

                              • My immediate initial thought is I'd say no. The rule is you're not allowed to be involved in any employment outside of the agency.

Now being that it's not a job, but a competition with a monetary prize...yea you probably could. I think an argument could be made that it's comparable to winning a poker tournament in a casino. Viewing it that way, I would think there wouldn't be any issue. Being a paid instructor at a local gym? I think that's definitely a no-go.

Personally, I'd wait til I was off probation before testing the waters on it. Just want to be the gray man until I hit job security.
