  • Age cutoff for FLEO Civilian?

Does the 37 cutoff age still apply to anyone employed under a FLEO Civilian position? I applied for the IT Specialist position for the USSS to get my foot in the door while I'm still in processing for the USSS SA position.

Yes....unless you have a honorable discharge from the US Military and fall under VEOA Status......

Needs to be a "12d/6c covered" position.

      Maybe look at UD also

Unless USSS has a position I'm not aware of, being a IT specialist is not a FLEO position. USSS is a FLE agency, but not everyone working for them is a FLEO (only agents/1811, officers/0083, and special officers/1801 are sworn LEOs within USSS).

As said above, whether it's a FLEO position or not, the key is whether the position has the LE special FERS retirement (often referred to as 6c/12d) in regard to whether the age limit applies. There are law enforcement positions within the USG (and non-sworn civilian positions within FLE agencies) that do not offer this special retirement, and thus do not have the age limit.

Thanks for the information! I meant to say FLE Civilian rather than FLEO Civilian, because that wouldn't make any sense.

Foot in the door for what? If you truely want to "stop the clock" with your age, apply for the BOP. Unless you just want t get in with the G? Even then, apply anywhere.

Not to complicate things but for most positions it is 37 for a short time DHS and I think BOP where allowing up to 40 but I think that is over most agencies will subtract mil. time with HD a few are 36 year old max start and will not subtract Mil. time hope this helps
