So anything new with FPS or has anyone heard about any hiring news coming up? Seen them driving around Downtown LA a few times and was hoping someone had any info on what FPS is like in So Cal?

I don't know much about how work is in SoCal, however the mission is the same nationwide, and how proactive the officers are depend on MOU's, MOA's and which state you work out of.

I contacted FPS two days ago and I was advised that they are required to hire about 150. She also advised the announcement should be coming out very soon. She said make sure I look out for it..... I was wondering how much do FPS start off getting paid, I cant find any info on that. I heard about 54k, is that true? Also doe FPS make LEAP? Hopefully someone can answer these questions.

FPS special agents get LEAP. Inspectors do not. The starting salary or entry level grade is either GS 7 or GS 9 depending upon experience. The salary is determined by the grade and locality. Journeyman level for an Inspector is GS 12. Currently we hire only for Inspectors which is a Physical Security Specialist/ Federal Police Officer hybrid position, focusing on the physical security aspect.

Thanks for alerting everyone to the possibility of inspector openings. I might give it one more go if they have openings in Region 4. Hopefully, it will not be a repeat of my last experience with this very troubled federal agency. Despite the problems FPS has, I still think it would be a good opportunity.

According to an HR rep in Region 8, that may be a localized hiring drive. The entire agency has been under review for future/projected manpower needs, but this person felt the 150 number was purely speculative. FPS 1811 positions are few and far between, and generally filled internally. Just thought I'd pass the info along
