Yup, sweet gig. Talked to one guy at length. Since these guys get deployed with FEMA sometimes, for one that knows, do you think having USAR and HazMat Team (as a specialist) experience will help?

You can also sign up on DHS/FPS website to receive email alerts when a new job posting is listed. I attended a career fair several months ago and spoke to a regional commander (I assume, he was wearing full-bird colonel rank), and he said that he had 9 open positions in Denver/Lakewood and several more in Colorado Springs. He gladly accepted my resume and made it sound as though the positions were supposed to be on USAjobs at the time I talked to him. That's been quite a while now and I haven't seen anything yet....

I could be wrong here, but the guys I know in FPS seemed to imply that there would be no more police officer hiring anymore... like, forever. Only Inspector hiring, which is goes up to gs 12.

That would mean ya'll would need to use the term "Inspector" in your keyword search on USA jobs and not police officer. You would also be looking for 0080 instead of 0083 if you use the job series.

Interesting...I wonder why. Also, will you still be sworn, 24 hour carry and get a take home? Or, are they phasing that out?
