  • US Probation jobs???

Anyone know much about US Probation Officer jobs. I have an interview for a Field Supervision Officer coming up. I cannot find out much on them. I have searched this forum and the internet. I have been in State Parole/Probation for 7 years and a police officer in the past. Just wondering if anybody heard if it is a pretty good gig or not?

    thanks

I've interviewed for a few U.S. Probation Officer positions in the past. Where in Florida are you testing? Although I can't speak for the Florida outfits specifially, U.S. Probation is an excellent gig.

I'm currently about to go through the hiring process (hopefully). I'm a state PO right now but the federal system is sooooo much better paying.

Is it likely to be hired as a U.S. Probation Officer without a masters degree? I currently have over 3 yrs as a state/local PO. Is this competitive w/ an applicant w/ a masters degree?

Since each district sets its own hiring guidelines, it may differ from one probation office to another. However, you need BA. Continuing education is considered a substitute for job related experience.

If you are interested, find your district to see what their qualifications are and apply.

I'm interested in this position and the position of pretrial services officer as well. How do they view corrections experience? I am just a CO right now, however I was looking into becoming a case manager in the future, and perhaps a probation or pretrial services officer.
              What is Perseverance?

Again, it depends upon the district, however, I can't see this hurting you. In some districts, pre-trial investigations are housed in the same office that houses supervision officers.
