If you want to be on a tactical team in less than three years in a LEA, apply with the USBP and after two years you can try out for Bortac. Its is very, very difficult to complete the training but if you do you will have a ton of action and training. They work all around the world.

The FBI has a 'Tactical Recruiting Program' which, if hired, gives you a shot at the HRT screener. Tough stuff. I know that you must have at least a Bachelor's Degree before they will look at your app. There are a plethora of highly qualified individuals who have many years of military and law enforcement experience that apply. It is HIGHLY competitive.
On top of that, I'm pretty sure the FBI is going to want you to learn how to be an agent, first, and expect you to work cases. Plus they'll make you junp through all the same application hoops as everyone else.

+1 on the program being tough. I was told that it was aimed at scooping up some people with a LOT of high-speed training, like SEALs, Delta, and Force Recon. So those are the kinds of dudes you'll have to compete with.

I would like to find myself doing more than bi monthly swat training, but am not sure I would like the bigger slower cases that traditionally accompany the F.B.I. Any suggestions? any good full time swat teams around Indiana? Any input or advice at all is welcome. Thanks
Sounds like you would be more interested in a big city pd with plenty of door breaking and action.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, it seems that you were in the reserves, went to some schools, and did a deployment? Now you are in school?

I would apply to many different agencies. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Many guys apply to numerous agencies only to get one offer. Most agencies have a high-speed tactical unit. Good luck. Semper Fi.
