Try the "Jobs" tab on the upper right-hand side of the tool bar.

In your initial post, you asked about "any info about good departments that don't have a hiring freeze with decient pay and take home car." This information could be found by searching open positions advertised in the "Jobs" section. Now you qualify your initial statement by writing that you want "info from leo's who work or have worked in those states." This can be found under the Local Discussion Groups, by clicking on the states that interest you. I would start there, since you can ask people already on the job (in some of the departments that have piqued your interest) more specific information such as shift details, advancement opportunities within the department, if the Chief is a @#$%, etc. Plus, these same people will more than likely frequent those threads than this one. Just a thought. Good luck.

          NC gigs....

NCSHP if you want a take home car right off the bat, or maybe Wake County Sheriff's Dept. Raleigh PD, but it takes a few years to get a ride, and you have to live in the city. Check out Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Chapel Hill.

Just a heads up; no true unions here, no collective bargaining and it's a right to work state....

I would think Myrtle Beach PD in SC would be fun, during the summer anyways...

NCSHP is the only one that fits all the requirements you listed. I've got family on the job and they like it a lot. But its all traffic all the time. They are picky about who they hire and the academy is live in, and it is hardcore.

If you enjoy being proactive and working, North Charleston PD is a great agency. They are always hiring certified officers. In SC you will have to complete a 3 week legals section at the academy, or in the training division of some departments.

Greenville County is also a respected agency. I've also heard good things about Rock Hill PD.

If you just want to look good in a uniform and have to kiss people's butts, apply with Mt Pleasant or Charleston City. CPD has some opportunities, but they are hard to get.

I don't think that Charleston County is hiring. They have terrible budget issues and not so hot morale. Lots of good ole boy action in the SO's of SC.
