  • Who is the largets OIG

Below I have ranked the 30 OIG that have presidentially appointed IG’s confirmed by the Senate.

As I apply to a lot of OIG announcements around the US, I found it hard to quantify the size of the particular OIG.

The below figures are based on 2007 budget actual. I based FTE using a break down of a normalized divisor from a few budget reports (MY SWAG).

CIA is not included in the ranking since there budget is not public information.

    Ranking Agency Budget FTE
1 Department of Health and Human Services $285,000,000 1685
    2 Department of Defense $221,000,000 1307

dod-ig has around 1300 employees but only around 300 DCIS agents (ballpark)-but the plan is to grow given the priorities of SWA deployments and big defense spending in the past few years..

      Is DCIS Hiring this Year

      Bain,

Do you see DCIS hiring anytime soon for entry level agent positions?

yes as a matter of fact- our SAC made a visit to every office lately and mentioned that there is a plan to hire a few agents off the street in every field office in the coming year and next- we are opening alot of posts of duty in other countries and need people to support ops there and here- as for details, i dont want to steer you wrong- thats all i know, but if you are interested i would def. call your nearest field office and ask if you could submit a resume- keep in mind theres alot of 1811's from other agencies who want to get on, but who cares? keep on calling till the rac/sac says there's a restraining order against you

That SSA-OIG number must include auditors and support staff, becaudse when I was there, we only had about 300 agents, and I haven't seen any kind of hiring push to bump those agent numbers up that high since then.

Yes my numbers are based on total organization, based on total budget. This would include auditors, inspectors, OA, IA, SES, managers, etc.
