  • I am stressing out...

Hey everyone, I am a newbie and glad to be on this site.
As you may have noticed from my user name I am focused on a carrer with the Border Patrol. I have my entrance exam this Wednesday. I am really stressing out about it, the alternate language test is getting the best of me. I have a career in the machining industry, where I have made a good living for the past 14 yrs. but need something more. I have always wanted to be in law enforcement, and now I am exploring the opportunity.
Someone please tell me I am over thinking the test, I know it will be challenging and it wouldnt be worth anything if just anyone could be a CBP.
    Thank you

Did you try the Arco TEA Practice Exam book? You can buy it online. It helped me for sure.

Good luck. When I took the test I was stressed out also. The alternate language is the toughest part of test but it is easy if you use the sheets they let you look off of.
        What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran,' whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve is 'someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

That is good that you have the Learning Express study book, it helped me out a lot in preparing for the test. Just keep studying that book and especially the study guide that should have been mailed to you. Another thing is to take your time on the test and check your answers. At the end of the test I checked over my answers and saw three questions that I had guessed wrong on.

I thought it was fairly easy. You get the hang of the alternate langauge test as you go through it, seems difficult at first by the end its not hard and you can go back and fix the questions you messed up on.

              ok cool, thanks guys!
I will really have to slow my thought down, instead of trying to hurry up and finish the test.
Only 4 days left.. Guess what i'm doing this weekend.lol.

Congratulations. I was also very relieved when I found out I passed the written exam. I was even more relieved when I found out I passed the Oral Board Interview.

Do they ask personal questions for the oral exam or L.E. questions?

Directly from www.cbp.gov Structured Oral Interview - Structured Oral Interview. The Oral Board is a structured interview given by three Border Patrol Agents. The interview consists of situational questions that do not require technical knowledge. The structured interview assesses a candidate's judgment/decision making, emotional maturity, interpersonal skills, and cooperativeness/sensitivity to the needs of others. These qualities are key to successful performance as a Border Patrol Agent. The oral board is a pass/fail interview. Candidates must receive a "pass" in all areas in order to continue in the hiring process.
