    The City of Champaign will be accepting applications to test for the position of Police Officer August 5, 2002 - September 6, 2002. The Police Department's mission is to preserve peace and order within the City through a cooperative effort with its citizens. The starting salary for a Probationary Police Officer is $39,762 plus benefits. The salary increases after the successful completion of a fifteen-month probationary period to $43,290.

    To apply to test for the position of Police Officer, you must be 21 years old by February 24, 2003, a high school graduate or its equivalent, and have no felony convictions. The testing process includes a mandatory orientation, written examination, physical abilities test and an oral Board interview. Individuals who successfully complete each phase of the process will be placed on an eligibility list. This list will be used when hiring Police Officers until February 2004.
