I have been away from the forum for a while and would like to give my two cents to all the new applicants. First off do not assume or get your hopes up you got the job until you step foot on to the academy grounds. I was a March 2014 applicant and here's my story.
My background is a United States Navy Cryptologic Technician Reader for four years. A network engineer for four years. Currently a FLEO for five years. I also have my bachelors degree.
I applied on usajobs.gov. I got referred to all of the locations offered on the announcement. I filled out all of the questionnaires including the sf-86 that came after the referrals. I then was scheduled an interview date. I drove 9 hours to the interview. I knocked it out of the park as I like to call it the day of the interview. I've been on numerous LEO interviews and I know when I have failed, barely made it and when I have passed. Now the fun part was the next day. That is when you get to have a date with the voodoo machine. I arrive at the site early run into the same two Special Agents that interviewed me from the day before and get the great job can't wait to have you on our team chant. We shake hands and chat for a bit. I am in great spirits. Then Mr. X the voodoo operator arrives. Everything goes well in the beginning, but out of no where I began to be accused of being Edward Snowdens partner in crime for the next five hours. I leave being told nothing more then be safe on your travels back home. A month later I get the letter stating better applicants are moving forward, you can apply again in a year. I figured so, but I was still keeping my hopes up.
Now to my knowledge I was one of the first 100 interviewed. I was told by the two agents that interviewed me that I would be a great asset to their team. Then somehow the next day one person holds my fate in their hands and after our meeting, I no longer have a chance at the job? I find this unbelievable especially since the NCIS continues to run job announcements. I am by no means a gifted person in anyway, but I am still scratching my head on how I was eliminated from the process. Also I know of a few others with my exact same story, but there is one similarity we all had the same person on the second day.
On a good note I'm still a FLEO and will die trying to land a SA job. By the way my usajobs applicant status states HIRED (I just noticed this change in status tonight and that is what caused me to decide to vent on here), so again don't get your hopes up until you step foot on the academy grounds. I would maybe look elsewhere unless you have nervous of steel because this process is insane. Good luck to the ones that have just began the process and those of you who have made it all the way through.

[email protected],
Just went back read your past post and others. I guess my rant was late to the race. After my horrible experience I couldn't bring myself to visit this forum anymore. Thanks for the reply.
My advice to anyone on here is to not waste your time
with the NCIS. However you can guarantee when my year suspension is up I'm applying again lol.

^ The NCIS is a cluster bomb and it's sad that they aren't kissing the feet of qualified applicants who are signing up to investigate Navy rapes. These stories continue to be all too common.
Fwiw Voodoo operators are notoriously the biggest freako turds in law enforcement. The power they continue to hold and the system unfortunately still in place throughout law enforcement remains a tragic, sick joke.
