    ** We are now offering a $5,000 hiring bonus to all new hires for the NSA Police position (effective 8/9/2002). We will also award two additional $1,500 payments: the first upon successful completion of training, and the other after 11 months of employment.

    Note: Any applicant currently employed with other Federal Agencies are ineligible unless there is at least a 90 day break in service.

    The National Security Agency (NSA) has a current and ongoing requirement for personnel to serve as officers with the NSA Police on its complexes at Fort Meade, Maryland.     Do you qualify?

    Only the highest caliber individuals qualify for these selected positions. At a minimum, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

    Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
    Unquestionable loyalty to the US and sound moral character as established by a comprehensive Federal Special Background Investigation (to include a polygraph).
    Issues that could disqualify an applicant from consideration include, but are not limited to, whether the applicant has engaged in serious criminal activity, recent illegal drug use, a history of adverse employment actions to include absenteeism and termination, or significant credit problems such as recent bankruptcies.
    At least 21 years of age.
    Excellent physical condition.
    Uncorrected visual acuity of 20/125, corrected to 20/20, as measured with both eyes viewing.
    Must be willing to work outdoors, shift-work, weekends, holiday, and overtime, under strenuous and potentially dangerous conditions.
    Possess a valid state driver's license.
    A High School diploma or GED and;
    Two years of education above the high school level, or;
    Honorable active duty military experience, or;
    Have two years of progressively responsible experience that demonstrates the ability to learn and apply detailed and complex regulations and procedures.
    The NSA Police provide armed, uniformed, security, force protection, and law enforcement in support of NSA's mission, assets, personnel, and facilities headquartered at Fort Meade. The NSA Police Force is an integral part of the NSA Associate Directorate for Security organization, which provides NSA worldwide counterintelligence, personnel, and facilities security support.

    Primary Responsibilities of the NSA Police include:

    Counterterrorism & Force Protection
    Assets Protection
    Pedestrian and vehicular access control
    Response and mitigation of security, medical, and fire emergencies
    Critical incident management
    Enforcement of laws and regulations relative to the protection of NSA assets
    Vehicle, facility, and material security inspections
    Firearms training and range management
    Patrol of NSA property
    Salary and Benefits

    Members of NSA's Police Force enjoy competitive starting salaries (beginning at $33,450).

    Applicants selected for further processing will be scheduled for an interview and a functional fitness test consisting of a timed shuttled run, "body weight pushed" assessment, "sit and reach" assessment and a 1.5 mile run.* The functional fitness test is included as part of the applicant process since a physical efficiency battery (PEB) is a required element of the training all NSA police officers must complete at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
    * All assessments are age and gender adjusted.

    Applicants who successfully complete the interview and functional fitness test may be extended a conditional offer of employment contingent upon successful completion of security and medical screenings, as follows:

    Medical/psychological screening by NSA medical staff.
    Full field background investigation and polygraph testing.
    Applicants selected for the position will have to successfully complete:

    The 10 week Mixed Basic Police Training Course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia.*
    * FLETC provides a rigorous, physically and academically challenging battery of courses/instruction in law enforcement skills/techniques, which includes classroom instruction with written examinations, graded practical exercises, firearms instruction, and a PEB.**
    ** FLETC training may be waived for candidates who possess current Maryland Police Training Commission certification, or the equivalent.
