    The Roselle Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is seeking applicants for the following position:

    POLICE OFFICER
    $43,227 – 60,729

    Apply at the Roselle Village Hall, 31 S. Prospect Street, Roselle, IL 60172, (630) 671-2804. Completed applications must be returned no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2003. Applications require a $15.00 fee.

    OPENINGS

    Persons passing the examination process will be placed on an eligibility list, which will be used for a period of two years or until exhausted. As vacancies occur, candidates will be contacted based on their order on the eligibility list.

    EXAMINATION PROCESS

    The examination process will consist of the following test items, but may not be given in the order listed.

    1. Written Exam: The written exam will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2003. You will be notified as to the time and location of the group test. Depending on the number of applicants, there may be a morning and afternoon session for testing. The minimum passing score will be established by the agency conducting the test. You will be notified if you pass this test and qualify for the balance of the selection process. This exam may take up to three hours – please be prepared.

    2. Oral Interview: All applicants passing the written test must pass an oral interview with a minimum passing score of 70.

    3. Background Investigation: All applicants placed on the final eligibility list will be subject to a background investigation including fingerprinting, police records check, credit check and inquiries of neighbors, relatives, employer, etc. This will not be done without your prior knowledge.

    4. Psychological, Polygraph and Medical Examination: Applicants placed on the final eligibility list will be subject to in-depth psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, medical and visual examination before being hired.

    5. Test for Entry to Academy. All applicants will be required to pass a physical ability test before entrance to the Police Academy. A passing grade on the P.O.W.E.R. (Police Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) is necessary for graduation from the Academy.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Generally, applicants must be in good health, be of good moral character, and not possess an adverse police record. Applicants should possess physical strength and ability sufficient to handle aggressive situations, be able to work under adverse weather conditions, be able to think and act quickly in emergency situations, and possess good general intelligence and emotional stability.

    Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent, and be at least age 21, but not over age 35, by April 25, 2003. At time of appointment, a police officer must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

    Copy of birth certificate

    Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate

    Copy of DD Form #214 / military service discharge (if applicable)

    Proof of previous police experience (if applicable)

    All forms included in this packet requiring signatures

    (None of the above will be returned to applicant.)

    WORK HOURS

    Roselle Police Officers are currently working 12-hour shifts. This allows officers to have a 3-day weekend every other week.
